Urgent! Urgent! Urgent! Urgent! Urgent!
Please take the time and redouble your efforts to stop the Bush/Kennedy/Kyl/Reid Shamnesty Bill. President Bush has had all weekend to twist arms and make secret backroom deals. In fact, that’s been the Modus Operandi of choice as the White House and Senate have worked to first draft, then severely restrict discussion and try to ram an Amnesty Bill down the throats of the American people. Another vote for cloture is expected Tuesday, and we’re still 7-10 votes short of the 41 Senators needed (according to Roy Beck at NumbersUSA) to keep this treasonous bill in its grave.
This Amnesty Bill, if enacted, will be the largest amnesty granted for illegal aliens in our nation’s history. It will be the largest increase in foreign labor in our nation’s history. And it will be the largest expansion of social welfare programs in our nation’s history. America simply cannot afford it!
I know this is tiresome. It’s also unprecedented. Congressional staffers cannot remember a time when they were flooded with more emails, faxes and telephone calls on any issue. Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, reports she’s not aware of one Senator who has received more calls of support for the Amnesty Bill than calls against it. A recent Rasmussen poll (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/) showed 72% of American voters want the government to enforce border security laws and reduce illegal immigrations; 89% stated they were Republicans, 65% Democrat, and 62% unaffiliated. This underscores the reality that Americans’ outrage does not follow party lines. Yet the White House and the U.S. Senate have not yet heard you. You must continue to voice your outrage until all efforts to sell out America’s sovereignty cease!
Eagle Forum reports the Amnesty Bill will diminish the use of English in America. “Section 702(b) would have forbidden the government to ‘diminish’ any existing rights under U.S. ‘laws’ that concern services or materials provided by the government ‘in any language other than English.’ This section was given extraordinary scope by Section 702(c), which defined the word ‘laws’ to include ‘Presidential Executive Orders.’ These deviously written sections would thus have exalted Clinton’s Executive Order (EO) 13166 to the status of U.S. law. Clinton’s EO requires all recipients of federal funds to provide all information and services in any language requested by any recipient of federal funds (such as a private-practice physician who accepts a Medicare or Medicaid patient). Clinton’s EO 13166 should be repealed and English should be legislated as our official U.S. language (emphasis mine).” Are you angry yet? You’re not alone. A new Zogby survey reports that 84 percent of Americans support designation of English as the official language of the United States. That’s one of the highest percentages of Yes votes ever recorded in public opinion polls.
As we reported earlier, the Amnesty Bill also supports implementation of the Security and Prosperity Partnership. If there was nothing else wrong with this legislation, this one point should be reason enough to kill it. The SPP, through this Amnesty Bill, would create a “region” through which people and trade goods could flow freely, with no messy real border security impediments.
This Amnesty Bill, whether the original S. 1348, or the new S. 1639, has been a shady, sneaky, cowardly effort from the onset. Every effort has been made to circumvent the American legislative process – negotiation behind closed doors, stifled debate, and a rigged amendment process – all designed to achieve a predetermined outcome. But these Pro-Amnesty Masters of Disaster didn’t account for the will and voice of the American people. You’ve stunned them by your outrage. But they’re still counting on you getting tired or changing your focus from what they’re attempting to do – which is sell out the nation and its people. You dare not let your attention waiver, or we could literally lose the America of the last 200+ years.
Eagle Forum reports “The grass roots showed their power over the White House, Big Democratic Establishment, Big Republican Establishment, Big Business, Big Unions, Big Media, and Big Church combined.” You should be very proud. But we have to maintain our vigilance, and determine to keep in the fight as long as it takes.
ACTION TO TAKE
Roy Beck at Numbers USA reports the following 32 Senators will vote “NO” on a cloture vote. Please find a way to thank these Senators and solidify their vote against this Amnesty Bill, so they don’t turn at the last moment:
Alexander (R-Tenn.), Allard (R-Colo.), Baucus (D-Mont.), Byrd (D- W.Va.), Bunning (R-Ky.), Chambliss (R-Ga.), Coburn (R-Okla.), Corker (R-Tenn.), Cornyn (R-Texas), Crapo (R-Idaho), DeMint (R-S.C.), Dole (R-N.C.), Dorgan (D-N.D.), Enzi (R-Wyo.), Grassley (R-Iowa), Hutchison (R-Texas), Inhofe (R-Okla.), Isakson (R-Ga.), Landrieu (D-La.), McCaskill (D-Mo.), Pryor (D-Ark.), Roberts (R-Kan.), Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), Sanders (I-Vt.), Sessions (R-Ala.), Shelby (R-Ala.), Smith (R-Ore.), Stabenow (D-Mich.), Sununu (R-N.H.), Tester (D-Mont.), Thune (R-S.D.), and Vitter (R-La.)
Numbers USA reports these 12 Senators as likely to vote NO on final passage of an Amnesty Bill, but likely to vote YES on cloture. These are the Senators to pound so they vote NO on cloture:
Bond (R-Mo.), Bingama n (D-N.M.), Burr (R-N.C.), Boxer (D-Calif.), Cochran (R-Miss.), Conrad (D-N.D.), Ensign (R-Nev.), Levin (D-Mich.), Gregg (R-N.H.), Nelson (D-Neb.), Hatch (R-Utah) and Webb (D-Va.).
Remember – no matter which Senators you contact – tell them a vote for cloture will be considered a vote for the Amnesty Bill. Tell them we will remember, and reward them at their next re-election bid.
Phone calls and letters are the most effective way to contact Congress.
E-mails and faxes are many times ignored. Members of Congress have been changing their e-mail addresses and fax numbers when we send out alerts. If you prefer, though, you can send an e-mail by going to each member’s website at http://thomas.gov.
Alternatively, you may phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate or House office you request.
If you choose to write, and do not know your Congressman’s and Senators’ mailing addresses, you may simply address your letters as follows:

So many in the freedom movement are quick to accept the idea that we cannot win against the forces of tyranny. They are dragging their chins on the ground and sit in despair. Darned if I understand why.
2007 and the Democrat-controlled Congress has been one of the greatest tests for the ideas of limited government and preserving the Republic. Forgive me for sounding like Pollyanna, but so far, we are winning. Frankly, this Congress has failed to pass a single significant piece of legislation to hurt us. Of course that can change quickly, but we can face that when it comes. For now, stop fretting and look at the bright side.
First, the defeat of the Senate Immigration bill is without question, the greatest victory for the Republic in at least a decade. While many have lamented that the American people are asleep, paying no attention to issues of the day, the fact is a full 80% of the American people opposed the guest worker scheme and saw it was truly amnesty for illegals. They saw the threat and said so.
The Senate and the White House, not used to an enflamed electorate, continually tried their usual flimflam tactics of ignoring the will of the people. Not this time. Americans hated this bill and said so. The Senate got more phone calls and more letters than on any issue in recent memory. The Senate switchboard was shut down. And it DID NOT PASS.
Of course they will try again. Who said Freedom is easy to preserve.
The North American Union. We’re told this is a done deal. Can’t stop it. Wanna bet? Even with virtually no national media to expose it, the word is spreading like wildfire. As a result, currently 18 state legislatures have now passed, or are working to pass, resolutions against the idea of a North American Union.
The Teamsters Union has filed suit to stop the Bush Administration’s plan to allow Mexican trucks to cross our borders and haul good throughout the nation. The suit is shining a very bright spotlight on the scheme and could well sidetrack the program.
Keep in mind; all of the Americans who stood up to oppose the immigration bill are potential allies in the fight against the North American Union. It’s the same issue in different wrapping.
In Texas, just a year ago, state legislators basically denied there even was a Trans Texas Corridor. Just a highway improvement program, they said. Yet, just one year later, in landslide margins, the Texas Legislature voted overwhelmingly to put a moratorium on the project so more discussion could take place. That was a major victory.
True, many of the legislators lost their nerve at the last minute and put in amendments to basically cut the teeth out of the bill. But first we must remember that the vote in itself was an amazing victory to expose the corridor. There can be no denial that the vote was to stop the TCC. The people of Texas said no to that Corridor. Now they must continue the fight by exposing those legislators who betrayed them. The momentum of the first vote much be used to continue the fight until we win the final victory to stop the TCC – just like we did in the immigration battle.
In 2005, Freedom’s warriors were convinced the battle to stop the National ID was over after Congress passed the Real ID Act. Yet, there are now 12 states refusing to go along with implementing it. There is legislation in Congress to repeal it outright. Americans are learning it is not a tool to fight terrorism or illegal immigration, but a plan to impose a big brother style tyranny on us all. We’re stopping it.
A couple of years ago, Congress passed a horrible bill which literally robbed our First Amendment right of free speech. The McCain-Feingold bill severely restricted the ability to even name elected representatives in campaign ads. It then was impossible to run effective campaigns against incumbents, giving them a free election ride. Last month the Supreme Court ruled that it was against the First Amendment to ban businesses and unions to fund advocacy campaigns in the closing months of an election. It was a huge victory for the right of free speech and the Republic.
Word has now come down from Congressional Democrats that they will not renew Fast Track authority for the president. Of course it’s a political ploy against Bush, but the fact is, Fast Track is the one issue that actually gives the President the power to negotiate policy like NAFTA, GATT and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), to implement the North American Union. It is a victory for our side to take that authority away for him, no matter the reason.
Worried about the invasion of Chinese goods now flooding the American market place? The problem may take care of itself soon. The month of June has seen a huge backlash against Chinese goods – more powerful than any boycott could ever produce. And they are doing it to themselves. Chemicals in killer dog food have been traced back to China. The FDA has just moved to block the sale of Chinese fish because of still more chemicals. Defective Chinese tires have been discovered. All of these things will only serve to prove to the American people that Chinese goods are inferior and undesirable. Americans may yet learn that China is a brutal communist regime that has no concern for the quality of its products. It cares only for the power of the money it makes off of them. It proves that the free market can be trusted and those who think they can manipulate it will eventually be exposed.
There are lots of good things happening in the name of freedom around the world. There are efforts to create private property as a means to eradicate poverty. There are efforts to bring back DDT to eradicate malaria. Of course there are bad things going on. Of course the forces of tyranny continue to build to enforce their will.
The good news is every victory they score creates new victims. Every new victim finds their way to the camp of Freedoms Heroes and our forces swell. And that can ultimately lead to freedom – if we will just get our heads out of the sand and appreciate a victory when we win one.

Global warming alarmists are a clever bunch. They have very carefully changed the issue from “global warming” to “climate change.” Now any change in weather, be it mild winters or cool summers can be attributed to “climate change.” Whatever the weather, the news is very bad.
One claim threatens massive storms thrashing our communities. Such a threat was an easy sell in 2005 as Katrina was blamed for nearly destroying New Orleans in a hurricane season that seemed without end. Surely it could not be denied that climate change Armageddon was upon us.
To make the point, in September, 2005, Bjorn Carey, Staff Writer for the website, LiveScience.com reported that the “Increase in major hurricanes (was) linked to warmer seas.” Said Carey, “the number of severe hurricanes has doubled worldwide even though the total number of hurricanes has dropped over the last 35 years.” Carey continued, “The increase in major storms like Katrina coincides with a global increase of sea surface temperatures, which scientists say is an effect of global warming.”
Based on such “scientific” studies and having just experienced such a horrific hurricane season, the world braced for the 2006 season. Nothing happened. No severe storms. All was quiet on the oceanfront.
Were the alarmists wrong? Could the predictions be mistaken? Was this the end of the hysteria? Of course not. With huge monetary rewards and government grants at stake, the climate change artists knew just what to do – switch gears. No muss. No fuss.
In April, 2007, Andrea Thompson, another staff writer for the same website, LiveScience.com wrote, “Global Warming could hinder hurricanes.” Said Thompson, “Global Warming might not fuel more intense hurricanes in the Atlantic after all. Despite increasing ocean temperatures that feed monster storms, climate change may also be ramping up the winds that choke off a hurricane’s development…” Nothing, not even facts stop the dedicated climate change alarmist.
The truth is, global warming and climate change have nothing to do with how severe the hurricane season is. Those who have documented hurricanes since we had the tools to study them report that how severe the season is depends on a well-known natural phenomenon which comes in two parts – El Nino and its evil sister La Nina.
Every few years certain elements in the weather cause the oceans to either warm or cool. An El Nino is a warming of the water temperature and actually tends to produce a milder storm season. An El Nino is the reason for last year’s mild hurricane season. A La Nina, on the other hand, is a cooling of the mid-Pacific equatorial region causing ocean temperatures to cool resulting in greater storm activity and velocity.
Storm watchers issued a prediction that the 2007 hurricane season will possibly be a severe one because indications are a La Nina is forming. Forecasters admit they don’t know how severe the weather will be because they don’t know how strong the La Nina is. However, it typically means more hurricanes in the Atlantic, fewer in the Pacific, less rain and more heat for the southern U.S. and a milder spring and summer in the north. Conrad Lautenbacher, NOAA Administrator, the federal agency responsible for hurricane watching further explained, “The central plains of the United States tend to be drier in the fall during La Nina, while the Pacific Northwest tends to be wetter in the late fall and early winter.
So this year, if your region is experiencing unusually dry weather, perhaps a drought, or a cool spring, or a mild summer, rest assured it’s completely natural and has nothing to do with the wit or wisdom of Al Gore. He’s just trying to scare you into giving him another Oscar. Don’t be fooled. It’s not “climate change,” it’s just weather.

Freedom 21 National Conference – Dallas, Texas
PART 3
No Time to Hang Our Heads
We indeed face difficult times, dealing with issues and policies no Americans before us have had to face. The double speak, the deceit and the betrayal have left us all exhausted and depressed.
And my friends, I think that is the greatest obstacle you and I face in the battle to truly restore the Republic. It’s not the power elite, or the force of government or hidden conspiracies. It’s our own attitude.
So many in the freedom movement are quick to accept the idea that we cannot win against the forces of tyranny. We are dragging our chins on the ground and sit in despair.
Darned if I understand why.
2007 and the Democrat-controlled Congress has been one of the greatest tests for the ideas of limited government and preserving the Republic.
Forgive me for sounding like Pollyanna, but so far, we are winning a lot of battles. Frankly, this Congress has failed to pass a single significant piece of legislation to hurt us. Of course that can change quickly, but we can face that when it comes. For now, stop fretting and look at the bright side.
First, the defeat of the Senate Immigration bill is without question, the greatest victory for the Republic in several decades. While many have lamented that the American people are asleep, paying no attention to issues of the day, the fact is a full 80% of the American people opposed the guest worker scheme and saw it was truly amnesty for illegals. They saw the threat and said no.
Do you think they are not in a panic? They played a very heavy hand and lost. Of course they will try again and again. But each time they do, more Americans will come to understand what we say is true. They will lose more support and their position becomes weaker. Because we are here with the truth.
Some say we can’t stop the North American Union. We’re told it is a done deal. Wanna bet? Even with virtually no national media to expose it, the word is spreading like wildfire.
It’s taken them years to carefully lay the groundwork for this. We’ve only been openly fighting it for about a year. And our tiny band of activists are causing them major headaches. In fact, their only tactics have been to say either – there is no NAU – or we’re all just a bunch of nuts.
The fact is, through our efforts, Americans are starting to figure this out.
As a result, currently 18 state legislatures have now passed, or are working to pass, resolutions against the idea of a North American Union.
The Teamsters Union has filed suit to stop the Bush Administration’s plan to allow Mexican trucks to cross our borders and haul goods throughout the nation. The suit is shining a very bright spotlight on the scheme and could well sidetrack the program. And that spotlight is helping more Americans to learn that the NAU is real.
And we made that happen.
True, the Governor rose up with all the power at his disposal to stop it. As a result, many of the legislators lost their nerve at the last minute and put in amendments to basically cut the teeth out of the bill.
But first we must remember that the vote in itself was an amazing victory to expose the corridor. There can be no denial that the vote was to stop the TCC. The people of Texas said no to that Corridor.
Imagine the panic in the Governor’s office as this was going down. Now he and every legislator who betrayed the will of the people must be targeted and held accountable.
The momentum of the first vote must be used to continue the fight until we win the final victory to stop the TCC – just like we did in the immigration battle.
We actually hold a strong hand. It would be silly folly for us to now just slink away with our heads down. Are we nuts! Name names. Make them feel pain. One thing is consistent on the other side – they are cowards – cockroaches who hate the light of day. Bright lights and roach spray are what we need.
And let’s look beyond the issue of the SPP and the Corridor. There have been some astounding victories on other fronts as well.
We’re stopping it – or at least slowing it down.
A couple of years ago, Congress passed a horrible bill which literally robbed our First Amendment right of free speech. The McCain-Feingold bill severely restricted the ability to even name elected representatives in campaign ads. It was done to make it near impossible to run effective campaigns against incumbents, giving them a free election ride.
But last month the Supreme Court ruled that it was against the First Amendment to ban businesses and unions to fund advocacy campaigns in the closing months of an election. It was a huge victory for the right of free speech and the Republic.
Word has now come down from Congressional Democrats that they will not renew Fast Track authority for the president. Of course it’s a political ploy against Bush, but the fact is, Fast Track is the one policy that actually gives the President the legal authority to negotiate policy like NAFTA, GATT and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), to implement the North American Union.
Fast Track allows the President to force policy on congress without debate and without amendments. It is a victory for our side to take that authority away from him, no matter the reason.
And look at Al Gore’s panic in trying to force climate change policies on us. Billions of dollars have been spent to get us to believe in man-made global warming. Hollywood had to give him an Oscar to get our attention.
But in fact, the American people aren’t buying it. Al’s worldwide concerts for climate change last week were the lowest rated shows on television.
Worse, for him, Senator Jim Inhofe, from just up the road in Oklahoma has become a one man wrecking crew in Congress, debunking the so-called science Al’s using. Real scientists are coming out of the woodwork now to say they are global warming skeptics.
No wonder Al and his ilk want to put us in jail for opposing them – they have nothing else left to threaten us with.
The Chinese debacle proves that the free market can be trusted and those who think they can manipulate it will eventually be exposed.
There are lots of good things happening in the name of freedom around the world.
Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto is becoming an international phenomenon with his advocacy of private property ownership as a means to eradicate poverty. 50 heads of state have asked him to meet with them to discuss his ideas – including such totalitarian states as Syria.
I have learned in the past few months that there are freedom fighters out there you and I have never heard of. I just spent last week in Las Vegas with 1,000 of them. They have never heard of you and you’ve never heard of them – but they are there, fighting much the same fight.
Of course there are bad things going on. Of course the forces of tyranny continue to build to enforce their will. And of course they will fight back when we win a round.
The good news is every victory they score creates new victims. Every new victim finds their way to the camp of Freedoms Heroes and our forces swell. And that can ultimately lead to freedom – if we will just get our heads out of the sand and appreciate a victory when we win one.
When you feel you can’t go on in the fight, when you feel there is no hope, remember this – there are millions in the world who really want freedom – we are not alone.
There is a great uprising beginning to take place around the world. The Internet has become an incredible tool to spread the world of freedom around the world. And oppressed people are reading and listening and dreaming of freedom for themselves.
Truth is on our side. Right is on our side. And I believe time is on our side. Call me Pollyanna if you will, but I see signs of change. The immigration battle shows people are alert. It has awakened that sleeping giant.
The truth is, in our lifetime we are never going to see America become what we might envision to be the perfect world. Frankly, many of us would disagree among ourselves about what that perfect world should be.
But, in the face of the forces of tyranny we fight today, if we can preserve our nation’s sovereignty and independence and keep the Bill of Rights alive – a document based on the three principles of freedom – then frankly that will be an incredible victory.
And for our children and grandchildren to have a hope of living in Freedom – that will be enough.
The Third Rail = Corporate Social Responsibility
Address by Tom DeWeese
Freedom 21 National Conference – Dallas, Texas
PART TWO
Now, I’ve talked about the two-way partnership between certain business and government. But there is a third rail that is having a major influence on the policy being created by the PPPs.
Picture, if you will, an Isosceles triangle. And label each point: 1.Government Power 2. Corporate Money 3. NGOs Agenda
The truth is, corporations aren’t always willing players in the partnerships – neither is government, for that matter. Many times both are answering to pressure from activists with a specific agenda.
Those activists come in the guise of Non-governmental organizations (NGOs). They are determined, dedicated and radical. They mean business and they have the means to force their will on companies. It’s almost masochistic to watch how they treat companies.
Perhaps you’ve heard the term Corporate Social Responsibility. The idea is that corporations must not conduct their affairs merely to achieve profits for their stockholders – or even to just provide products and services for their customers.
According to the doctrine, businesses must also help further the “well-being of society.” You know, “like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.” To many businesses the term means treating customers, employees and suppliers with respect and integrity, while making sure you aren’t damaging the environment. It’s just good business.
But something much more sinister has control over the force of corporate social responsibility. As Niger Innis, president of the Congress on Racial Equality, points out, the ideological environmental movement is a powerful $4 billion-a-year U.S. industry. On the international level it’s an $8 billion-a-year gorilla.
Many of its members are intensely eco-centric, and place much higher value on wildlife and ecological values than on human progress or even human life. They have a deep fear and loathing of big business, technology, chemicals, plastics, fossil fuels and biotechnology. And they insist that the rest of the world should acknowledge and live according to their fears and ideologies.
They are masters at using junk science, scare tactics, intimidation and bogus economic and health claims to gain even greater power. These people, with their radical political agenda are now succeeding in forcing Corporate Social Responsibility on more and more companies.
They assert the right to dictate corporate social responsibility by declaring themselves stakeholders, even though their only stake is philosophical. In most cases, they have no economic interest in the companies.
They place ever-increasing demands on business to take ever more radical measures in the name of protecting the environment or in the name of social equity. Products have been banned. Even whole industries have been destroyed.
Here’s an example of the power of this force tied to Sustainable Development policies is an incident that took place in Ireland.
There, McDonalds applied to build a new restaurant in a community. The government demanded an environmental impact study for the project. Now, that’s not so unusual. Only this environmental study wasn’t concerning the building of the restaurant. Rather, it was to study the effects of the food to be served on the health of the residents of the community.
McDonalds has been beaten to a pulp over the issue of obesity, human health and animal rights. As a result, now you find McDonalds in the forefront of promoting the green agenda.
Another example of corporate masochism comes from Caterpillar, the equipment giant that provides machinery for the mining industry. Recently, Caterpillar announced it was joining the United States Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), which is lobbying for caps on carbon dioxide emissions.
If USCAP reaches its goal for mandatory federal restrictions on the emissions, the cost of energy will be driven up, hurting Caterpillar’s customers and shareholders. The restrictions would especially harm the poorest fifth of the U.S. population, who simply can’t afford higher energy costs.
When asked if he had done a cost analysis on this policy before joining USCAP, the Chairman of Caterpillar said he had not and would not. Therefore, he was blindly endorsing a policy that could put his own company out of business.
Why? Because he has been forced to accept a political agenda over business sense. To do otherwise would mean possible government sanctions, regulations or fines. It’s the new way to do business in America.
It’s the force of the triangle. That’s Corporate Social Responsibility. It isn’t responsible at all. And it’s not very corporate. It’s enforcement of a political agenda.
Many times these issues begin with what appears to be completely absurd press releases by obscure fringe groups.
But businesses must not ignore the source of there rantings. Once they begin to give sanction to small demands in an attempt to put on a good face – the bar will be continually raised until the business becomes merely a tool for a political agenda that is in direct opposition to their ability to stay in business.
Market Terrorism
Here’s how nuts it can get. Max Keiser is a new kind of terrorist. He uses the Internet and boycotts to manipulate stock prices. In that way, he forces corporations to comply with his brand of radical environmentalism and Sustainable Development. He puts his hands around corporate throats and squeezes until they comply with his demands.
Max Keiser and his ilk hate business and they hate free enterprise and are using an outrageous tactic to force his agenda and cause chaos in the marketplace.
Keiser’s operation is called “Karmabanque.” That new age-focused name alone should give you an idea of the wacky worldview that spews from Keiser’s brain. But his brand of activism is much more sinister. He calls himself a financial anarchist and he and his partner, Stacy Herbert, consider themselves the “Bonnie and Clyde” of the Internet.
Keiser describes his audience as Activist, Anarchists and Hedge Funds. It’s a stock exchange of sorts, but with a brilliant and maniacal twist: It trades on the strength of boycotts.
To put it in the simplest possible terms, Keiser targets companies that are vulnerable to boycotts, such as Coca Cola, which relies heavily on daily consumer sales. Once the boycott has begun, Keiser tells his minions to buy “put” options on the targeted company’s stock – options betting the stock price will fall. As the boycott drags down the stock, Keiser and his followers make a quick buck on the options.
Meanwhile, the company tries to strike a deal with Keiser – give in to his demands – to get the boycott stopped. The deal, of course, means the company eats itself alive supporting policy contrary to its own purpose.
Oh yes, and when the deal is struck, Keiser tells his investors to now buy “call” options to make more money as the stock goes back up.
So, here are the tactics we face as the globalists work to dictate our world. They poison the free market with government-sanctioned monopolies called public/private partnerships. They call it free trade, yet, they manipulate the stock market to force companies to destroy themselves and their investors and call it socially responsible.
In such a system some businesses receive favors from the power elite while others are scorned. Friends in high places become the driving force instead of loyal customers in a free market.
Meanwhile, as the NGOs apply their pressure to the corporations, they also apply it to government. Government answers to the current power elite. Government has the power to destroy business if it so desires. Businesses that don’t play ball are shut out of the process, left to fail. So business spends more time trying to satisfy the government and non-elected NGOs than taking care of their customers.
Now you know why General Electric runs ads against using electricity, Ford gives money to the Nature Conservancy so they can enforce car pooling, and Home Depot says it’s against cutting down trees.
As I said, it’s masochistic to watch. Torture and pain inflected on the market place to twist and contort it beyond recognition.
What is the Republic?
So why do so many libertarians and conservatives support the concept of Public/Private Partnerships? By their words they profess to uphold the principles of freedom, limited government, individualism, private property and free enterprise. Yet they embrace a policy that eliminates competition, increases the size and power of government and stamps out the individual in the process.
A recent conference held in Virginia, just outside D.C. by such libertarians was titled “Restoring the Republic.” Yet, they called for open borders and “free trade.”
My question is this: What is the Republic? Is it just a notion floating on air? Something we can’t actually hold in our hand. Is the Republic just an idea? Or is it a thing? A place?
Only one nation was created by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution: the United States. We were created as that Republic.” The Constitution defines a government that is supposed to have one purpose, the protection of rights we were born with.
It is true that every person on earth was born with those rights based on the principles of freedom. But only one nation was specifically designed to recognize and protect them: the United States.
If there are no borders, then what is the Republic they want to preserve? How can that be done? The Republic is the land of the United States. The laws of the United States. The judicial system of the United States. The sovereign states of the United States.
Our Constitution directs how we create laws by which we live, right down to the local level. It protects our ability to create a way of life we desire. Our resources, our economy, our wealth is all determined by the way of life we have chosen. And it’s all protected by the borders which define the nation – the Republic. And you can’t “harmonize” that with nations that reject those concepts! Canada is a commonwealth tied to the British Crown; Mexico is socialist.
So again, I ask, if you eliminate all of that by opening the borders and inviting nothing short of anarchy – then how do you preserve the Republic?
Those who advocate open borders and free trade conveniently mix their terms. They ignore the powerful drug cartels, the murderous coyote people – smugglers, the gunrunners, the violent gang members and the terrorists who are pouring across the border to do harm to this nation.
Of course there are good, people rushing across that border who truly seek our promise of freedom. But those are the only ones the open border crowd chooses to talk about – again ignoring the fact that they break the law to get here.
In emotional terms they speak of immigrants and workers and families, just like those who came through Ellis Island throughout our history. They speak proudly of their own ancestors who came here to help build America. But the word “illegal” is conveniently dropped from the language.
And they really like to quote Thomas Jefferson when he wrote of the “natural rights which all men have of relinquishing the country in which birth or other accident may have thrown them, and seeking subsistence and happiness wheresoever they may be able, or hope to find them”
I dare say Jefferson could not conceive of an invasion of the nation he helped found by hordes of illegals who not only refuse to speak our language or abide by our laws, or respect our culture – but show outright hatred for all of it. I’m quite sure he would have opposed that.
How would Jefferson have reacted to statements such as those made by the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan, which says, “Chicano is our identity…it rejects the notion that we…should assimilate into the Anglo-American melting pot.” They believe Aztlan is the legendary homeland of the Aztecs and it’s theirs to “reconquest.” That’s not immigration or migration – it’s a hostile invasion of our country.
So tell me, how will allowing such an invasion of a hostile group interested only in the destruction of the United States help restore the Republic?
I’ve really tried to understand the point of view of the open border – free trade movement. But somehow their logic escapes me. Just last week I listened to one of these advocates discuss their position.
He said he agreed that we couldn’t let illegals in the country. He was certainly opposed to that. So his solution quite literally was to legislatively open the borders and let them in – all very legal of course. Guest workers! Ronald Reagan might have called them campers.
So what is the difference? Legal. Illegal. Why have laws? Without laws and borders we have anarchy. And how does that restore the Republic? What Republic?
I can only say to the libertarians and conservatives who accept such policy as freedom, as Ayn Rand used to say: “Check your premise.” You have missed a major piece of logic. And you are most definitely not advocating the principles of freedom.
Free trade, NAFTA and the SPP are false gods in the struggle for freedom. But too many are selling them as the answer to human happiness, wealth and freedom. In fact, they can only lead to tyranny.
Address by Tom DeWeese
Freedom 21 National Conference – Dallas, Texas
PART 1
“Freedom.” We use that word a lot. Do we all really know what that word means? It’s used in so many different ways. Do we understand how it is attained?
Most importantly, do we understand how it is used by some to actually take freedom away?
Why do some who profess to advocate freedom actually accept policies, which diminish freedom and call it “restoring the Republic?”
Simply put, freedom is the ability to act without hindrance or restraint. Freedom is owning your life, your actions, your labor.
We say we support the “principles” of freedom. But what are those principles and where did they come from?
First of all, we must understand principles are not legislated or invented. Principles are discovered. Someone doesn’t just come up with an idea and start to sell it as a principle. A principle exists and you are subject to it, whether or not you know it.
For example, for centuries men were ignorant of the laws of physics but they were subject to them nonetheless. Man couldn’t fly or fill two objects in the same space, no matter how hard he tried because the laws (or principles) of physics are fact, whether known or unknown.
The same is true with the principles of freedom. The basic principles of freedom are consistent with man’s nature and that’s why they work. When the principles of freedom are recognized and adhered to, there is prosperity, justice and happiness.
When the principles have been ignored or rejected, men have suffered poverty, stagnation and political tyranny.
So to obtain freedom it’s vital that we know what the principles are. There are three, actually. Individualism, private property, and free enterprise. They are all necessary for freedom to exist. Leave just one out, and freedom is eroded.
Individualism – your personal choices – the ability to pursue your own rational self-interest. Choices like the religion you choose; the size home you build; the car you drive; the kind of spouse you select. In short, individualism is fulfilling a life of one’s own.
Private property. Well this conference was built on the concept of the right to own and control private property. Your own body is the most important property you will ever own. The idea that someone else can control that is absurd, but there are many who seek to do so.
So private property is not just land. It is your thoughts. Your possessions and the fruits of your labor. Without the right to own and dispose of the products of ones own life, the individual is dependent upon the State (or someone) for his very existence.
So, it is obvious that one can’t be individualistic without the ability to own and control private property.
It can be argued that one can have no other rights without property rights. George Washington said, “private property and freedom are inseparable.” Property Rights activist and ranger, Wayne Hage said, “Either you have the right to own property or you are property.”
And that brings us to the third principle of freedom – free enterprise. Free markets. Capitalism. The process whereby free men buy and sell and trade the products of their own lives free from interference.
These are the three principles of freedom and these are what we are fighting for.
Reinventing Government and “Free Trade”
But today, we live in a new world with new terms and polices. Free trade. Open borders. Partnerships. Global markets. Emerging economies. Developing nations. They tell us we’re breaking down barriers. We’re providing opportunities. We’re building FREEDOM around the globe.
To listen to the excited hoopla, it seems man has never been closer to universal freedom with all of its benefits of wealth and opportunity to the masses of the earth. Gone are the conflicts caused by suspicion, jealousy and nationalism.
Here we are, brothers and sisters in a brave new world as our leaders join hands and purse strings to plan our future without pain or fear or hunger. Oh my! I get all ginchy just thinking about it!
But before we get too excited, first a little history lesson on where some of these policies came from and how they actually work.
During the first years of the Clinton Administration in the early 1990s, there was much fanfare about a new policy to “reinvent government.” It was sold as a way to make government more efficient and less costly. It would, said its proponents, “bring business technologies to public service.”
Pro-business, anti-big-government conservatives and libertarians were intrigued. The backbone of the plan was a call for “public/private partnerships.” Now that sounded like their kind of program.
Government, they said, would finally tap the tremendous power of the entrepreneurial process and the force of the free market into making government more effective and efficient. It sounded so revolutionary and so American.
Today that “reinvention” has revealed itself to be the policy known as Sustainable Development, which is nothing more than a plan for a top-down managed society. Sustainable Development policy includes population control; development control; technology control; resource control; and in a great sense, thought control.
Sustainable Development is not freedom. Not one of the three principles apply. There is no individuality as it advocates group policies; there is no private property under Sustainable Development – period. And there is no free enterprise as markets and supplies are tightly controlled by the hand of government.
Yet, incredibly, much of the Sustainable policy has been embraced by the “free-trade” movement, which advocates open borders, free trade zones, and one-size fits all regulations, currencies, and the use of public/private partnerships. And many of the biggest proponents of the policy are conservative and libertarian think tanks.
NAFTA
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was one of the first of the “free trade” policies to use the concept of public/private partnerships as a major tool to drive policy.
The program was sold simply as a means to expand markets for American industry and agriculture beyond U.S. borders into Canada and Mexico, thereby offering American business and workers “better jobs, better wages and more exports.”
However, NAFTA is not unencumbered trade. It represents truckloads of regulations. And there is no question that NAFTA regulations and guidelines are creating great change in the economic order of our nation.
NAFTA comes with its own tribunal overseers; its own courts; and its own set of rules – all of which can, in fact, override laws passed by local, state and federal governments.
Such a policy is not “free trade,” rather it is a new government structure – reinvented, indeed. Here is how Henry Kissinger described NAFTA in July, 1993: “It will represent the most creative step toward a new world order taken by any group of countries since the end of the Cold War, and the first step toward an even larger vision of a free-trade zone for the entire Western Hemisphere. [NAFTA] is not a conventional trade agreement, but the architecture of a new international system.”
NAFTA, under close examination appears to be little more than a redistribution of the wealth scheme. Profiting from it are a few select corporations, which get wealthy in their elite partnerships with government while American jobs, industry and wealth get redistributed to other nations.
Since 1994, under NAFTA, the U.S. trade deficit has soared and now approaches $1 trillion per year. The U.S. has lost some 1.5 million jobs and real wages in the U.S. have fallen significantly.
However, the concept continues to be highly touted by “free traders” as a success. Thirteen years after its inception there are now more calls for similar programs to cover South America, Central America, Africa and Asia. The Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) is designed to further enhance and strengthen the NAFTA concept over North America.
Public/Private Partnerships = Government-
Sanctioned Monopolies
It is little understood by the general public how public/private partnerships can be used, not as a way to diminish the size of government, but in fact, to increase government’s power.
That’s because no one ever comes forward and tells the general public the entire plan for something as vast as the Security and Prosperity Partnership. No one ever calls for a debate or a vote to implement the plan with public approval.
Instead, it’s done incrementally, a piece at a time, in an easy to disguise program here – a suggestion there. There are few debates or discussions. Even elected officials rarely know the true agenda they are helping to put in place.
Slowly, the whole comes together. By the time people realize the truth, it’s already in place. Policy is set.
And Public/Private Partnerships are becoming the fastest growing process to impose such policy. State legislatures across the nation are passing legislation, which calls for the implementation of PPPs.
Beware. These bonds between government and private international corporations are a double-edged sword. They come armed with government’s power to tax, the government’s power to enforce policy and the government’s power to enforce eminent domain.
At the same time, the private corporations use their wealth and extensive advertising budgets to entrench the policy into our national conscience. Cute little jingles or emotional commercials can be very useful tools to sell a government program.
Further, participating corporations can control the types of products offered on the market. Witness the drive for solar and wind power, even though the technology doesn’t exist for these alternative energies to actually make a difference.
Yet, the corporations, in partnership with government to impose these polices, have convinced the American public that this is the future of energy. Rest assured that if any one of these companies had to sell such products on the free market controlled by consumers, there would be very little talk about them.
But, today, an unworkable idea is making big bucks, not on the open market, but in a controlled economy for a select few like British Petroleum because of their partnerships with government.
Public/private partnerships can be used by international corporations to get a leg up on their competition by entering into contracts with government to obtain favors such as tax breaks and store locations not available to their competition, thereby creating an elite class of “connected” businesses.
A private developer, which has entered into a Public/Private Partnership with local government, for example, can now obtain the power of eminent domain to build on land not open to its competitors.
The fact is, current use of eminent domain by local communities in partnership with private developers simply considers all property to be the common domain of the State, to be used as it sees fit for some undefined common good.
The government gains the higher taxes created by the new development. The developer gets the revenue from the work. The immediate losers, of course, are the property owners. But other citizens are losers too. Communities lose control of their infrastructure. Voters lose control of their government.
Using PPPs, power companies can obtain rights of way over private land, as is currently happening in Virginia where Dominion Power plans massive power towers over private property – against the strong objections of the property owners.
Private companies are now systematically buying up water treatment plants in communities across the nation, in effect, gaining control of the water supply. And they are buying control of the nation’s highway systems through PPPs with state departments of transportation.
Because of a public/private partnership, one million Texans are about to lose their land for the Trans Texas Corridor, a highway that couldn’t be built without the power of eminent domain.
Of course, it’s not just American companies entering into PPPs with our government. Foreign companies are being met with open arms by local, state and federal officials who see a way to use private corporations and their massive bank accounts to fund projects.
As the Associated Press reported July 15, 2006, “On a single day in June (2006) an Australian-Spanish partnership paid $3.6 billion to lease the Indiana Toll Road. An Australian company bought a 99 year lease on Virginia’s Pocahontas Parkway, and Texas officials decided to let a Spanish-American partnership build and run a toll road for 50 years.”
In fact, that Spanish-American partnership in Texas and its lease with the Texas Department of Transportation to build and run the Trans Texas Corridor contains a “no-compete” clause which prohibits anyone, including the Texas government from building new highways or expanding exiting ones which might run in competition with the TCC.
That is not free enterprise. And it’s not protecting the second principle of freedom – private property.
With inside information from its own Public/Private Partnership, Kansas City Southern Railroad (KCSR) has been able to grow overnight from a two-bit belt around Kansas City to controlling a 2,600-mile artery from Lazaro Cardenas to Kansas City, straight up the Trans Texas Corridor. KCSR has obtained the rail rights up the corridor. It is now a government-sanctioned monopoly.
Protected from competition, the railroad will set the costs and the shipping rules. And it will get very rich, no matter the quality of service. All because of whom its owner knows. Ayn Rand called it the power of pull. That is not free enterprise.
At an April, 2007 meeting in Calgary, Canada, as part of the Security and Prosperity Partnership, government officials, business leaders and academics met to discuss redistributing Canada’s water to Mexico and the U.S. Southwest.
Canada has water, lots of it, and the public/private partnerships of the SPP are swarming on it like locusts as they seek to drain it out of Canada’s rivers and lakes and ship it to potential profit centers south of the Canadian border.
The Trans Texas Corridor will provide water pipelines for the shipping and PPPs will buy up the rights and dispose of the water as they see fit.
Canadians are suddenly feeling the raw power of the lethal combination of government and private industry as they dictate policy. The people of Canada now understand that they will have little say in the matter.
Private companies operating in the free market lack one thing government has – the power of coercion. That’s a good thing. Imagine if Hershey’s Chocolate had the power to stop you from buying Mars candy, of course telling you it was for your good health.
The free market operates with you making the decisions based on personal choice. Under Public/Private Partnerships the choices are decided for you in meetings behind closed doors.
How many times now are we seeing free choices taken away in the name of some government policy?
One example of PPPs using government partnerships to take away personal choice is the pharmaceutical companies using the power of the FDA to regulate and remove availability of natural supplements from the open market.
Meanwhile, private companies that are not part of a PPP are unable to compete with those who are. They are shut out of competition from the establishment of economic development zones, which provide the chosen elite with reduced real estate taxes and financial aid.
Companies, which find themselves outside of the elite status of the PPP, suddenly run into regulatory difficulties to get their own projects completed. It’s not just a coincidence?
All of these things are happening through agreements between certain industries and government.
PPPs are one of the reasons many people find they can no longer fight city hall. The private companies gain the power of government to do as they please – and the governments earn the independence of the companies, no longer needing to answer to voters. It’s the perfect partnership. But it’s not freedom.
Such a process allows the private companies to be little more than government-sanctioned monopolies, answerable to no one. Their power is awesome and near absolute. Some call such policy corporatism. Another term would be corporate fascism.
What public/private partnerships are not, however, is capitalism or free enterprise, though it may have some of the trappings of such. The marketplace is still there. Its laws have not been repealed. But ultimately, corporatism does not trust the marketplace to do what the elites want.
Thus the alignment of corporations and government is done at the expense of ordinary people – the exact opposite of free markets controlled by consumers. I’ll say it again it is not free enterprise. It’s not “free trade.
Action Alert! Action Alert!
Senate offices are reporting a quantity of phone calls from angry constituents unlike any they have ever experienced. You and your fellow Americans continue daily to express outrage over the Senate’s consideration of S. 1348, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007. Despite this unprecedented outcry from the American public, the Senate is marching on with its plans to pass this disastrous legislation. And Senator Ted Kennedy has offered an amendment that would enhance the Security & Prosperity Partnership and quite probably the formation of a North American Union. Clearly, you must turn up the heat even higher on your elected non-representatives. If this legislation becomes law of the land, we will lose the America we have known for well over two hundred years. The de facto elimination of our borders will destroy our national sovereignty, and the financial burden of this shamnesty bill will complete the nation’s bankruptcy. You must re-double your efforts and drive a stake through the heart of this blood-sucking bill, or we will lose our nation; it’s as simple as that.
Contrary to what President Bush and White House spokesmen would have you believe, this bill not only provides Amnesty for illegal aliens – there is nothing else of substance to it. This bill provides instant Amnesty for every one of the 12-20 million invaders estimated to be here, plus any other illegal able to get into the country over the next year or two. This is the primary goal of this legislation, as anyone can clearly read in the very first sentence of the proposed legislation, where the drafters stated that this instant Amnesty is not subject to any “triggers” or other delays. Check out this Lou Dobbs report on how bad this Bill is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxo6RpjPC7M
Section 601(h) defines the Amnesty, and states there are no fines, penalties, etc., associated with that grant of Amnesty. Immediate “probationary status” will be granted within 24 hours of any illegal’s application. The government will be allowed to waive fines for any illegal proving hardship! The government will be unable to investigate every applicant within 24 hours, yet it will hand them all an ID card permitting them to stay and work in the United States until the day they die. This Amnesty bill prohibits such a card ever being recalled if a future determination of ineligibility is made, and the government has no way to retrieve any of cards once issued, even if it wanted to.
When you think about it, whether or not any fines are ever associated with the conversion of an illegal’s status to lawful citizen, this Amnesty bill rewards their illegal behavior with the “fruits of the crime.” To put this in clear terms, say a man rapes a woman and is convicted of the crime. Amnesty could normally keep that man from going to jail to serve his sentence. This Amnesty would give him the woman! This Amnesty bill rewards everyone who illegal breaks into this country with permanent, legal residence in this country! For our Senate to agree to this is much more heinous and immoral that just forgiving the criminal behavior!
This bill grants Amnesty to every corporation who exploits illegal labor. Illicit profits they make will not be at risk. How then, exactly, will this Amnesty bill encourage future enforcement of our immigration laws?
This bill grants Amnesty to the extremely violent illegal gang members in this nation. These are the folks who routinely decapitate or otherwise mutilate those they murder. All a gang member must do is to sign a “renunciation of gang affiliation.” Even more damning is the fact that a proposed amendment that would have prohibited known felons from gaining citizenship was defeated! Has the U.S. Senate lost its collective mind, along with its moral compass? How does providing a “path to citizenship” to these monsters improve our national security or prosperity? Additionally, this Amnesty bill would immediately halt ICE’s efforts to deport these animals.
Despite the War on Terror, our nation remains at risk of terrorist attack, as was once again highlighted by the Fort Dix plot. This bill grants Amnesty to any illegal alien terrorist whose fingerprints are not on file; you should know the U.S. government does not have a database of every terrorist in the U.S. or worldwide. Under current law, when an Arab/Muslim illegal alien is found, s/he is immediately deported. The Amnesty bill would deprive the government of this power. The government will be overwhelmed processing the claims of 12-20 million anticipated applicants. There is no way that many people can be properly screened, when their probationary status must be confirmed within 24 hours of application. Please remember, our government approved visas for Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi six months after 9-11!
On May 21, Senator Ted Kennedy introduced a substitute amendment (#1150), dubbed the “Grand Compromise,” which was worked out by select members of Congress, two Cabinet members and the White House. One critical aspect of this amendment is Section 413, which expresses the sense of Congress that “The United States and Mexico should accelerate the implementation of the Partnership for Prosperity to help generate economic growth and improve the standard of living in Mexico.”
The Partnership for Prosperity is a bilateral agreement made between the President of the United States and the President of Mexico in 2001. Its purpose it to boost the social and economic standards of Mexican citizens, particularly in regions where economic growth has lagged (which is most of the country of Mexico) and emigration has increased. So not only are Americans to bear the financial burden of the illegals already here; our national government has agreed we should bear the additional financial burden needed to better the lives of those Mexicans who stay in their own country!
If this bill can truly be said to have anything to do with compromise, it is because the U.S. Senate plans to compromise your economic well-being, compromise our national prosperity, compromise our national security, and compromise our national sovereignty. Conventional wisdom says this immigration reform effort is the result of both major political parties pandering to a huge potential new block of voters. That would merely be an ancillary benefit of a much grander “vision” for America – one in which your government intends to fleece, defraud, constrain, and otherwise abuse the American people.
