  • U.S. Two States Away from Constitutional Convention
  • APC is now offering you a quick and easy way to multiply your efforts and help win more battles! Simply click http://www.referralblast.com/rblast.asp?sid=7137 to send this APC Action Alert to up to TEN of your friends! It’s fast, it’s easy, and most of all, it’s extremely effective in KILLING LEFTIST POLICIES!

This is the most urgent, most important action alert the American Policy Center has ever issued! The Ohio state legislature is expected to vote today, Wednesday, Dec. 10th, to call for a Constitutional Convention (Con Con). If Ohio calls for a Con Con only one more state need do so and Congress will have no choice but to convene a Convention, throwing our U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights up for grabs. Ohio’s vote today poses a grave threat to the U.S. Constitution. Please immediately call the Ohio lawmakers listed below. ACT FAST – time is of the essence!

I apologize! This malignancy most foul remained undetected by our radar until a good friend brought it to our attention yesterday. The hour is late, but WE MUST TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION!

It does not matter where you live. Ohio’s vote today endangers everyone in every state in the Union, so we must pressure Ohio lawmakers to discard this disastrous legislative effort.

Thirty-two (32) other states have already called for a Con Con (allegedly to add a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution). 34 states are all that is required, and then Congress MUST convene a Convention.

The U.S. Constitution places no restriction on the purposes for which the states can call for a Convention. If Ohio votes to call a Con Con, for whatever purpose, the United States will be only one state away from total destruction. And it’s a safe bet that those who hate this nation, and all She stands for, are waiting to pounce upon this opportunity to re-write our Constitution. We dare slumber no longer; we must take immediate action to preserve this nation!

Certainly all loyal Americans want government constrained by a balanced budget. But calling a Con Con risks a revolutionary change in our form of government. The ultimate outcome will likely be a new constitution; one that would possibly eliminate the Article 1 restriction to the coinage of real money or even eliminate gun or property rights. So what may look like a good idea to the legislators driving this effort – all Republicans – will certainly make them prey to the law of unintended consequences – at the very least insuring the U.S. will never have a balanced budget – while destroying what vestiges of liberty the government still allows.

You may have heard that some of those 32 states have voted to rescind their calls. This is true. However, under Article V of the Constitution, Congress must call a Constitutional Convention whenever 2/3 (or 34) of the states apply. The Constitution makes no provision for rescission. We’ve been told advocates of the convention are waiting to capture just two more states – Ohio, and one other. They can then challenge the other states’ rescissions in the courts while going ahead with the Convention. Congress alone then decides whether state legislatures or state conventions ratify proposed amendments.

You may have heard the states can control the subject of any convention. In truth no restrictive language from any state can legally limit the scope or outcome of a Convention! Once a Convention is called Congress determines how the delegates to the Convention are chosen. Once chosen, those Convention delegates possess more power than the U.S. Congress itself; if it were not so they would not be able to change the U.S. Constitution!

We have not had a Constitutional Convention since 1787. That Convention was called to make small changes in the Articles of Confederation. As a point of fact, several states first passed resolutions requiring their delegates discuss amendments to the Articles ONLY, forbidding even discussion of foundational changes. However, following the delegates’ first agreement that their meetings be in secret, their second act was to agree to debate those state restrictions and to declare the Articles of Confederation NULL AND VOID! They also changed the ratification process, reducing the required states’ approval from 100% to 75%. There is no reason to believe a contemporary Con Con wouldn’t further “modify” Article V restrictions to suit its purpose.

As former Chief Justice Warren Burger said in a letter written to Phyllis Schlafly, President of Eagle Forum:
“…there is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda. Congress might try to limit the convention to one amendment or to one issue, but there is no way to assure that the convention would obey. After a convention is convened, it will be too late to stop the convention if we don’t like its agenda. The meeting in 1787 ignored the limit placed by the confederation Congress…” (emphasis mine)

We were blessed in 1787; the Con Con delegates were the leaders of a freedom movement that had just cleansed this land of tyranny.

Today’s corrupt politicians and judges would like nothing better than the ability to legally ignore the Constitution – to modify its “problematic” provisions to reflect the philosophical and socials mores of our contemporary society.

The majority of U.S. voters just elected a dedicated leftist as President. Republicans are at their weakest right now! This is a horrible time to try such a crazy scheme. We cannot control the debate right now! Don’t for one second doubt that delegates to a Con Con wouldn’t revise the 1st Amendment into a government-controlled privilege, replace the 2nd Amendment with a “collective” right to self-defense, and abolish the 4th, 5th, and 10th Amendments, and the rest of the Bill of Rights. Additions could include the non-existent Separation of Church and State, the “right” to abortion and euthanasia, and much, much more.

Our uniquely and purely American concept of individual rights, endowed by our Creator, would be quickly set aside as an anachronistic relic of a bygone era; replaced by new “collective” rights, awarded and enforced by government for the “common good”.

The problems our nation faces are not a result of deficiencies in our Constitution; rather, they are the direct result of our disregard for that divinely-inspired document of liberty.

There is no challenge faced by this nation that cannot be solved either by enforcing existing law, or in limited cases, by writing new law. We do not need, AND MUST NOT RISK THE LIBERTY OF THE UNITED STATES with, a Constitutional Convention!

Ohio must not vote for a Con Con! We cannot control the debate! And state #34 is likely sitting silently in the wings, ready to act with lightning speed, sealing the fate of our once great nation before we can prevent it.

Stop the Ohio bill and we can stop the Constitutional Convention.

    ACTION TO TAKE

We need only stop the House bill, HJR8, sponsored by Representative Louis Blessing, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (there is a Senate bill too).

    1. Call Chairman Blessing’s office and tell his staff you oppose a Constitutional Convention and you want this process stopped.

Tell them this is the most dangerous time ever to call for such a convention.

Tell them no one can control the debate or outcome of a Con Con.

    Fax: (614) 719-3583
    Email: district29@ohr.state.oh.us

    2. Call Representative Bill Batchelder. He is a very good man. I’ve known him for years. But he has been misled on this issue. The word is he is wavering. Your calls can convince him to withdraw his support. That can kill this bill.

    Representative Bill Batchelder

    Fax: (614) 719-3969
    Email: district69@ohr.state.oh.us

    3. It is URGENT that you make your calls right now. The bill could be voted on as early as this afternoon (Wednesday).

I’m so sorry for this late notice. We just found out about this last night.

Please get this message out far and wide. This task requires our very best effort! E-mail and call your friends, family and neighbors. Network anywhere and everywhere possible. If you know someone who never takes action, encourage them to break that habit this one time. Our Constitution is under assault!

    Action Alert! Action Alert!

President Bush’s pre-Thanksgiving pardons to convicted drug offenders punctuates this Administration’s utter contempt for all efforts, whether by federal employee, state or county government, and even civilian, to truly secure this nation’s borders. The American Policy Center wants to know why President Bush’s “compassionate conservatism” extends to drug offenders, but not to those sworn to secure our nation’s borders against drug traffickers. President Bush has less than two months left in his term of office – less than two months to pardon U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean; please join our demand that he immediately do so.

As you know, agents Ramos and Compean were incarcerated in January, 2007, after being prosecuted and convicted for pursuing and shooting Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, a known, convicted and deported drug trafficker, back in 2005.

Aldrete-Davila escaped apprehension, but was later tracked down and hauled into court by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton (supervisor of the Western District of Texas where the incident occurred), following a grant of immunity in exchange for his testimony against our Border Patrol agents who attempted to stop him and his drugs at our border! Prosecutors produced a bullet, with a broken chain of evidence, contending agent Ramos shot Aldrete-Davila while he was fleeing (or trying to surrender – Sutton made both claims). The American physician who later examined and treated this drug runner reported the wound track was consistent with Ramos’ testimony that this crook had turned and pointed something looking like a weapon.

What shocked most Americans was the admission in court by U.S. Attorney Debra Kanov, who actually prosecuted the case, that “It is a violation of Border Patrol regulations to go after someone who is fleeing.” Our Border Patrol agents are required to first obtain permission from supervisors before chasing suspected drug dealers. That time delay amounts to a de facto “no arrest” policy when this delay permits a smuggler to escape.

Public outrage resulted in 105 members of Congress co-sponsoring a resolution, H.R. 563, calling for Ramos and Compean to be freed. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) said, “The Ramos and Compean case is the worst miscarriage of justice that I have witnessed in the 30 years I have been in Washington (emphasis mine).”

A Congressional investigation forced Inspector General Richard Skinner to admit that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials falsified their report to Congress that DHS had documentary evidence that agents Ramos and Compean fired on a man they knew to be unarmed and not a threat to them.

Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) recently wrote of Ramos and Compean, “These are the kinds of men whose government failed and destroyed them - all while they were serving a cause greater than themselves. These men deserve justice. I, and many other members of Congress, have repeatedly called upon President Bush to exercise his power to pardon – but he had not done so.”

President Bush’s conduct is an outrage, and wholly unacceptable! But there is a ray of hope. Department of Justice Pardon Attorney Donald Rodgers is considering the commutation of Ramos’ and Compean’s sentences. Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA) stated, “Ramos and Compean have been living in the torture of solitary confinement for almost two years for something they never should have been prosecuted for in the first place (emphasis mine). We are pleading with the Pardon Attorney to make a favorable recommendation of commutation to the President so he can finally do the right thing by these men and their families (emphasis mine).” White House Press Secretary Dana Perino stated the President has no comment.

    ACTION TO TAKE

Agents Ramos and Compean, and their wives and children, have all been obscenely violated by the government persecution of these two defenders of our nation.

Enough is enough! Please immediately contact President Bush and demand he immediately pardon, or commute the sentences of, agents Ramos and Compean. You may call the White House Switchboard at (202) 456-1414, or fax at (202) 456-2461, or write President Bush:

    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
    Washington, DC 20500

HINT – Use a postcard so your request will not be delayed for the security clearance required for all sealed envelopes.

Please do not relent until the President announces his acquiescence.

  • Property. Liberty. The Rule of Law.
  • Address by Tom DeWeese

These are the founding principles of the United States of America.

We hear these words. Yet many Americans fail to understand their meaning – or how they effect our everyday lives.

Our founding fathers warned us that eternal vigilance was necessary in order to protect our liberties. They’ve been ignored.

And life in America has begun to change.

Americans are finding that life is getting harder.

There’s less optimism about the future as the phrase “American dream” seems to have disappeared from our vocabulary.

Parents worry about a school system that no longer seems to teach basic academics.

Rules and regulations seem to pop out of nowhere to control our daily routines.

The truth is our lives are getting more stressful and everyday living is getting harder because a revolution is taking place in this country and it is stealing the American promise of unalienable rights.

These are the rights we were born with. Rights our founding fathers said were government’s duty to protect and preserve.

Those natural rights are now being replaced with “granted rights” created by and authorized by government.

As a result, our laws have become little more than rubber bands, stretched to the advantage of the few who have gained the power of pull in the new society of controlled America.

You will find this revolution oozing out of every corner of our society. From text books to television to government policy.

It is for implementation of this revolution that your schools have been transformed to produce the citizens to live in the new revolutionary society.

It is the root to the drive away from academics and sound science.

It is the reason why every classroom is filled with discussions of diversity and multiculturalism. But few academics.

It is the reason children are being indoctrinated to turn away from their parents and the values you have taught them.

They are being prepared to live in a different society than ours. They are not being prepared to be American citizens – but of a global village.

That’s why they don’t need to know about American history and the Constitution and the Founding Fathers – for they are irrelevant.

The education system today is simply an assault on your child’s attitudes, values and beliefs. It is designed to change and mold them. That is public education’s only purpose.

If you fail to grasp this fact – you will never win the battle for liberty.

The revolution is anti-property rights. Anti free enterprise. Anti individual liberty. It is anti national sovereignty and national borders. And it is anti Western culture. And it is anti-Christianity.

The goal of the revolution is to transform the world into feudal-like governance by making NATURE the central organizing principle for our economy and society.

This is what the leaders of the revolution believe:

“Nature has an integral set of different values (cultural, spiritual and material) where humans are one strand in nature’s web and all living creatures are considered equal. Therefore the natural way is right and human activities should be molded along nature’s rhythms.”

This quote comes from the UN’s Biodiversity Treaty.

An international agenda has been set in motion, beginning with United Nations’ treaties and agreements, including the Biodiversity Treaty and Agenda 21. That agenda is now working its way down through federal to state to local government policy.

The international agenda is driven by the United Nations through two specific UN organizations including, the United Nations Environmental Program and the International Union of Conservation and Nature.

Would it surprise you to learn that six agencies of the United States government are active members of the International Union of Conservation and Nature, including the Departments of State, Interior, Agriculture and the Fish and Wildlife service.

And these agencies send representatives to all meetings of the UN Environmental Program.

Through all of the treaties, agreements and meetings, there grows an interlocking web of policy that takes root in America through these federal agencies, even driving down into state and local community governments.

The treaties are the roots of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.

For Congress to back out of these laws or even to consider reducing some of the regulations that are destroying industry or private property rights would simply be putting the United States in violation of these UN treaties.

And our elected representatives have shown that they lack the strength of character to stand up for American interests over an all-controlling international community.

Agenda 21 is the United Nations blue print for the complete restructuring of nations – and local communities – to fit into a proper mold for global governance.

Agenda 21 outlines, in detail, the UN’s vision for a completely managed society, dictating the process to be used for industry, agriculture, housing development, and especially education.

It’s an all-encompassing plan to rule from an all-powerful central government.

The common name for the policy is “Sustainable Development.”

    Sustainable Development.

If you remember nothing else said here today, remember these two words: Sustainable Development.

And remember this: If you profess to love America’s precious liberty then Sustainable Development is your enemy.

    So what is Sustainable Development?

Imagine an America in which a specific “ruling principle” is created to decide proper societal conduct for every citizen.

That principle would be used to consider everything you eat, what you wear, the kind of homes you live in, the method of transportation used to get to work, the way you dispose of waste, perhaps the number of children you may have, even your education and employment decisions.

Sustainable Development is that “ruling principle” for the implementation of what former Vice President Al Gore said we must all suffer through in order to purify our nation from the horrors of the Twentieth Century’s industrial revolution.

In his book, “Earth in the Balance,” Gore called it a “wrenching transformation of society.”

Those are pretty powerful words that should concern anyone who values liberty. It’s a warning that the rules are changing. That a new power elite is taking control.

Perhaps you are beginning to notice such changes as you go about your daily routine – but haven’t understood where those changes, and the ideas behind them, are coming from.

There are Sustainable Development papers, guidelines and regulations to impose the ruling principle:

On our public education system – to prepare our children to live in a sustainable world.

On our economy – to create partnerships between business and government, making sure business becomes a tool to help implement the policies.

On the environment – leading to controls on private property and business.

On health care – the new drive against obesity is leading directly toward controls on what we eat.

On farming – Sustainable Development policies effect farmers ability to produce more crops by regulating or banning precious chemicals, biotechnology and genetic engineering in the name of environmental protection.

On our social and cultural environment – where political correctness is controlling policy hiring practices, immigration policy, multiculturalism, marriage laws, etc.

On our mobility – with emphasis on car pools and public transportation and out of our cars and the freedom of personal transportation.

And on public safety – where the rule of law and the court system is being challenged by new regulations that effect the right to privacy and unreasonable search and seizures.

It’s important to understand that these leading issues we face today are not just random concerns that find their way into the forefront of political debate. They are all interconnected to the policies of Sustainable Development.

To quote a special Sustainable Development document prepared by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): “A new ecologically-balanced economics will drive the pursuit of Community Sustainability within modern society’s all encompassing urban-rural industrial civilization….This global marketplace is destined to recast the meanings of industry, work, play, health, agriculture, communications, learning and much more.”

Sustainable Development calls for changing the very infrastructure of the nation, away from private ownership and control of property to nothing short of central planning of the entire economy.

All Sustainable Development policy is built on something called the “precautionary principle,” That means that any activities that might threaten human health or the environment should be stopped – even if no clear cause and effect relationship has been established – and even if the potential threat is largely theoretical.

Truly, Sustainable Development is designed to change our way of life.

In our once free society, there are now government debates over the type of car you should be allowed to drive.

The kind of foods you may eat.

If and where you may build a home or a business.

Whole industries are being destroyed through so-called environmental protections. Ranchers, farmers, miners and the timber industry – all teetering on the brink of extinction.

Government agents from the benevolent Park Service to the Forest Service to the Army Corp of Engineers are armed like paramilitary S. W. A.T. teams to take land from Americans who have worked it for generations.

In towns and cities across the nation, homeowners suddenly face jail for cutting down trees on their own property. We now call the trees in your back yard the “urban forest.”

And government now values those trees more than the infrastructure of the community.

More than the sewers and roads.

More than the office buildings which house commerce.

More than your home which protects your family.

Under these new rules, cutting down a tree diminishes the value of the community.

That’s why homeowners are forced to give up major portions of their own property for bike trails and open space for use by people they don’t even know.

If you lately have dealt with government on any level, perhaps you’ve also noticed that there are more layers and more players to deal with.

You may have found layers of non-elected regional governments and governing councils enforcing policy. You may have attended such meetings and encountered powerful new voices coming from members of private organizations, now empowered with making and enforcing policy.

They’re called NGO’s or non-governmental organizations like the Sierra Club or the Nature Conservancy or any number of local or affiliated activist groups.

Why do they have such influence over the daily interactions between government and private business? – Because of the “social equity” part of the Sustainable Development package.

They call themselves “stakeholders” and assert that any group that has an interest in, or could be affected by, a corporate decision – or the outcome of a public policy debate – has a right to pressure the decision makers until they give in to their demands.

In other words, they are striving to become a new ruling elite with which you must deal to get anything accomplished.

As Niger Innis, president of the Congress on Racial Equality, points out, the ideological environmental movement is a powerful $4 billion-a year U.S. industry. On the international level its an $8 billion –a –year gorilla.

Many of its members are intensely eco-centric, and place much higher value on wildlife and ecological values than on human progress or even human life.

They have a deep fear and loathing of big business, technology, chemicals, plastics, fossil fuels and biotechnology.

And they insist that the rest of the world should acknowledge and live according to their fears and ideologies.

They are masters at using junk science, scare tactics, intimidation and bogus economic and health claims to gain even greater power.

As these policies are implemented, locally-elected officials are actually losing power and decision-making ability in their own communities.

Most decisions are now made behind the scenes in non-elected “sustainability councils” armed with truckloads of federal regulations, guidelines and grant money.

In fact, a recent study reported that elected city councils and commissioners have lost approximately 10% of their legislative power during the past 10 years, while, through the consensus process, NGO power has increased by as much as 300%.

It is a wrenching transformation, indeed.

For example, according to Sustainable Development polices, air conditioning, convenience stores, single family housing, and cars are among the products that have already been determined to be unsustainable.

Add to that ski runs, grazing of live stock, plowing of fields, logging, dams and reservoirs and power line construction, and you can get the full picture of America under Sustainable Development.

Being aware of this root agenda for Sustainable Development will help you better understand actions by the government and those mysterious private organizations often found sitting with them at the table. Their decisions directly effect your life.

Sustainable Development is the official policy of the federal government. It is now the official policy of every state and almost every city and small burg and town in the nation.

I’m sure you’ve seen news reports of the destruction of dams across the country. Former Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt personally took a sledgehammer to one in New Hampshire.

The feel-good sound bite at these dam destructions is that they are freeing the rivers for the fish.

But on the Penobscot River in Maine, a local power company was just paid $25 million by the Atlantic Salmon Federation to tear down two dams. What they aren’t telling the local residents is that this action is about to cost them 10% of their electrical power.

The other thing they aren’t telling the tax payers is that much of the $25 million will come from federal and state grants set aside for Sustainable Development programs.

If you’ve tried to buy a new house lately, you may be aware of new policies over housing development in which lots are postage stamp sized and placed close to light rail train lines. This is Sustainable Development policy in action.

Roads have been narrowed in some communities, making it more difficult to travel by car. In the state of Maryland, not a single new road was on the books as highways backed up with massive traffic jams, under Sustainable Development polices implemented by former governor Parris Glendening.

All of these policies stem from the revolution called Sustainable Development.

Ignore Sustainable Development at the peril of everything you hold dear – individual liberty, private property, free enterprise, free travel, free association – even life itself.

Driving the implementation of Sustainable Development in the United States are two separate action plans. The first is the Wildlands Project.

The Wildlands Project is the most radical, outrageous idea ever conceived by grown men and women.

The Wildlands Project calls for the “rewilding” of 50 % of all of the land in every state – restoring everything back to the way it was before Christopher Columbus stepped foot on the continent.

In other words, the elimination of human presence on over 50% of the American landscape.

It was conceived in the minds of eco-thugs like Dave Foreman, the maniac who founded Earth First.

In the Wildlands Project documents, Foreman said, “we live to see the day when Grizzlies in Mexico have an unbroken connection to Grizzlies in Alaska; when Gray wolf populations are continuous from New Mexico to Greenland; when vast unbroken forests and flowing plains again thrive and support pre-Columbian populations of plants and animals…”

In such a vision, there is little room for people.

Earth First went on to say: “Does all of this mean that …the Wildlands Project advocates the end of industrial civilization? Most assuredly.”

Followers of Foreman’s ideas now burn down housing construction sites; destroy heavy equipment owned by timber companies; and set fire to Hummer dealerships.

Reed Noss, one of the authors of the Wildlands Project, and later a policy expert in the Clinton Department of Interior, said, “The native ecosystems and the collective needs of non-human species must take precedence over the needs and desires of humans.

The project became a threat to you and me when the Wildlands Project’s blue print was included in the UN’s Biodiversity Treaty, and was ratified at the UN’s 1992 Earth Summit.

In other words, the Wildlands Project quickly grew from ravings of lunatics to international policy. That wasn’t an accident.

The eco-thugs have a direct link to the UN as recognized Non-governmental organizations (NGO’s). They actually help write the policies.

Much of the Biodiversity Treaty was implemented by the Clinton Administration through executive order– even though it was never officially ratified by the Senate. It’s now official U.S. government policy and the Bush Administration has done nothing to roll back or reduce its threat.

The second path of implementing Sustainable Development is Smart Growth.

This is the plan to herd us all into specific human habitat areas – out of the suburbs and our beautiful yards and into crowded cities and high rises.

The entire scheme was introduced at the 1996 UN Habitat II Summit in Istanbul.

That plan called for the down-sizing of cities and towns into new “urban clusters” where workplaces, housing and nature are blended together.

Homes and communities, set up in specific human habitat areas will be crowded, multi-family, low rise residential areas with running and walking paths instead of cars. Transportation will be primarily light rail trains and bicycles.

As one Smart Growth activist gleefully said: “It will be the humans in cages with the animals looking in.”

Under the Sustainable Development banner, the battle to diminish the liberty that our Founding Fathers envisioned is accelerating,

For 200 years we have prospered because we have operated under a rule of law that was designed to protect the individual’s right to pursue his own life in the way he chooses.

    – To work, to play, to invest – and to own property – and use it in the way that best suits his needs.

The government, by edict of our Constitution, has the responsibility to protect such activities.

In this nation, from the very beginning, private ownership of the land was undertaken as a right of the people.

Government’s job was to make sure that no one could unjustly take that land; or control how it was used; or trespass over it against the owner’s will.

Such a form of government is not a democracy!

Democracy, the idea that the majority rules, can be a lynch mob crying for action against an individual it has deemed guilty.

If the law says we must first try him – the lynch mob cries – “we can’t wait for the slow wheels of justice to turn – somebody must do something – now!!”

Democracy is three wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.

And Democracy is the word most often used to describe the implementation of Sustainable Development.

Our way of government is a Republic.

In a Republic, even if the majority dislikes how a property owner uses his land, the government protects his right to do so, so long as it is not infringing on that same right of others.

This is a guarantee to Americans that they are safe and free to pursue their own lives without interference of government. In fact, it says the government’s job is to protect those liberties so that they can pursue their lives.

And that guarantee is only possible in a Republic.

Such visions of freedom have become our legacy. Today, as we are attacked by running-dog terrorists, the nation rallies around the mantra of freedom. Flags fly from our homes and car antennas. Bumper stickers declare “God Bless America.” Banners shout “Let Freedom Ring.”

But in fact, under the banner of diversity, community and earth, our American liberty is being replace with rights granted by a gang of anti-freedom hooligans hiding out in the United Nations and buried in government bureaucracies and non-governmental private organizations.

It’s the lynch mob in action.

As a result, the American people, and their every action, are being ruled, regulated, restricted, licensed, registered, directed, checked, inspected, measured, numbered, counted, rated, stamped, censured, authorized, admonished, refused, prevented, drilled, indoctrinated, monopolized, extorted, robbed, hoaxed, fined, harassed, disarmed, dishonored, fleeced, exploited, assessed, and taxed to the point of suffocation and desperation.

John Adams said, “The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God – and there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it – anarchy and tyranny commence.”

Is that not what we have done? Do we want leaders who stand for the rule of law? Or do we select candidates based on what kind of goodies they promise to dish out?

The truth is we keep electing politicians who offer the best argument on how to use that government power.

We select our leaders today based on which ones have the best plan for collecting taxes; the best plan for restricting land use; the best plan for providing government-restricted medical care and drug prescriptions… and soon, if some get their way, the best plan to control what we eat – obesity, you see, is a new Sustainable mantra.

In every case, by electing these people, we are licensing the government to infringe on someone else’s property rights.

As a result, Americans are now beginning to wake up to find the real 800 pound gorilla (Sustainable Development) living on their property.

Now most people immediately equate Sustainable Development with environmental policy. And that is the reason most often given for its implementation.

Land use control is the heart of Sustainable Development policy. – But accepting the perception that Sustainable Development is simply good environmental stewardship is a serious mistake.

The logo used in Sustainable Development literature depicts three concentric circles, each labeled with a defining category of the ruling principle. One is labeled “social equity,” another, “economic prosperity,” and the third, “ecological integrity.”

They sound innocent enough. But these three categories encompass every aspect of human life. To achieve the goals behind these three very basic items would demand unlimited government authority to control business decisions; eliminate private property and personal achievement, and create a completely managed society under top-down bureaucratic control.

Social equity and social justice require that the earth’s wealth be shared between those who produce and those who don’t. It’s every welfare program and wealth redistribution scheme ever proposed. This is not free choice by free individuals.

Under Sustainable Development, business is little more than a tool of the social-planning managers. Partnerships between business and government decide what kinds of products are to be produced, who will produce them – and how they will be produced.

All must be done in accordance with environmentally correct procedures – government regulations.

Taxes to force compliance will ensure proper business conduct. This is not free enterprise.

Ecological Integrity: Well, that’s just the excuse for the social planners to pull you and me in and enforce their timeless schemes for power.

Under Sustainable Development – true environmental protection is just for the suckers. Power and wealth redistribution is the real game being played here.

In the name of protecting the environment; in the name of social equity and justice; in the name of safety and prosperity; Sustainable Development has become official policy in the federal government, state government and every large city and small burg in America.

Those behind it are powerful, well funded, well placed and well organized. No matter how crazy the plan, they are succeeding in building support from the American people.

    Here’s how.

Your community is now a sustainable community.

Have you heard your officials talking about how to curtail growth and block development? Are they talking about historic preservation? Is your downtown now called a historic district? Are they talking about how to control business development? Has the subject of public transportation come up? Is it getting more difficult to enjoy driving your car around town?

Here is the definition of a sustainable community from the Report of the President’s Council:

“Sustainable Communities encourage people to work together to create healthy communities where natural resources and historic resources are preserved, jobs are available, sprawl is contained, neighborhoods are secure, education is lifelong, transportation and health care are accessible, and all citizens have opportunities to improve the quality of their lives.”

Now break it down. How do you actually achieve these goals? Again, see if some of these things sound familiar.

How do the people work together? We need some sort of

committee or council to join. One that will set a vision for the city.

We need all of the leaders, from elected officials to educators, to

business leaders, to the local chamber of commerce to the local

news media. They will put a plan together for the future

    development of the community.

(By the way, that plan isn’t really written by the committee. The blue print will come out of Washington, backed with federal grants for those who comply).

Now, to see that the committee can really achieve its goals, it needs to have some teeth. We need a partnership between the committee and government. A plan will be drawn up and it will be the legislation guideline for laws and regulations.

We must understand that individual land owners and businessmen can’t be trusted to share the vision on their own

So the Committee must control the use of all private property.

It must decide what is historic and must be preserved.

It must set boundaries beyond which no new homes may be built.

It must decide how the community should look. Where open space should be. Where business can be allowed to operate.

Farmers must be stopped from selling their land to developers – even if our economic policies make it impossible to earn a living on the farm.

We’ll just take taxpayer dollars and give it to the farmers to buy out their development rights, commonly known as PDR’s. That way the land will forever be controlled by the government.

Cars are a very nasty habit. We must teach our community that everyone should be more open to public transportation. We must build light rail trains and bus lines to get us around to our jobs.

And to make it convenient for everyone, we’ll design housing developments around the rail and bus lines so they are within walking distance for everyone.

We’ll surround the community with bike paths and high density real estate policies that restrict development. We’ll narrow streets and refrain from building unnecessary roads to discourage use of cars.

In fact, eventually, our plan calls for eliminating cars from the community and that will relieve over-crowded streets. Cars will be banned.

Our homes can be designed in high and low-rise buildings with office space on top floors and stores on the main floor, with our apartments sandwiched in between. We’ll never have to leave the building during our daily routine.

So we don’t need yards that have to be mowed with smelly, gas-guzzling, air-polluting, noise-polluting mowers.

Of course with our low and high rise public housing, single family homes that waste precious land won’t be necessary. Suburban housing will be banned.

We’ll strictly control the use and development of utilities like power – and natural resources like water.

We must force our citizens to severely restrict their own water use. Ten gallons a day, per person, seems about right.

We won’t accept businesses which lack the proper environmental attitudes. They will either comply or be banned from operating in our town.

If we don’t have enough jobs, we’ll tax the businesses to raise the necessary funds to help those who don’t have one. Social equity is key to our committee’s plan.

But we must do more. The vision can’t become reality unless the people in the community have the proper respect for the plan.

One place to start is in the schools. Here are our future generations. It’s not as important that they can read and write and perform math problems as it is to understand the importance of living together with your neighbors in a happy, prosperous, safe, well organized community.

So let’s add some classes to help them obtain the proper outlook for the future.

Teach them that they must work together rather than selfishly setting personal goals.

Help them understand that personal wants and dreams and ambitions are selfish and will only hurt everyone’s future.

How best to teach them these things? Let’s form a partnership with businesses to help the children learn about work, right there in the school.

In fact, we can even let the children take half of each school day to go to the job as a volunteer. To make sure that everyone participates, we’ll make it part of their grade.

And to make sure that they always keep the valuable lessons and don’t stray from the special teachings they learned in the school to work partnership, let’s keep their education going for life.

For the adults, there can be public visioning classes for them, too. After all, we can’t fully organize the community around our grand idea if there is resistance from some of the people.

So, again, with our business partnerships, and with the help of the Chamber of Commerce, and the schools, we’ll work with the folks on a neighborhood basis.

There are other things that the committee will find necessary to ban – in order to assure that the citizens have the opportunity to improve their lives.

Obesity is a national epidemic. We must also control what people eat. Our plan will make sure that they eat properly.

That’s why we can’t allow precious farm land in our county to be wasted on raising cattle for beef consumption. Beef is harmful to your health, so it will be banned. Wheat and soy will be grown on that land instead.

Ever had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner of tofurkey?

With our new healthy diet, as outlined by the committee, we will no longer need things like 7-11’s and McDonalds and their unhealthy fast foods and snacks. They will be banned.

There is one more danger to the happiness and security of our community that must be addressed – overpopulation. The committee will decide the proper number of folks who can comfortably live in our community limits.

If we don’t control the population, we will be overrun. Some strict guidelines must be imposed, for the sake of the community’s well being and for the protection of our environment.

Birth control education and supplies will be a major part of the process for keeping the population down.

But if our folks don’t heed the committee’s warnings, if the population begins to exceed our limits, drastic action will be required.

Limits on the number of children a family may have will have to be imposed. Those conceiving children against those limits will have to pay a high price.

Fines, of course. Imprisonment for exceptional cases. Now, what to do about those yet unborn, but illegal babies…? Action must be taken, for the sake of all of us in the community.

Do you understand where we are headed, my friends?

Name the issue – name the aspect of your life that is not affected by such a mentality.

All of this, and much more is the future under Sustainable Development. This is not about “preserving the environment for future generations.”

It’s indeed a wrenching transformation of America – away from a nation of well protected liberties – to one of all-controlling regulations.

Across the nation Americans are now facing an assault on their liberties as never before experienced in the land of the free.

On the New River in West Virginia, 100 families suddenly found they were going to lose their homes to the National Park Service. Why, because the Park Service had acquired control over their property years ago when the New River had been designated a National Heritage River.

No homes. No people. You see, their homes were in the view shed of the new parkway. Some tourist might like to take pictures of the scenic view and their homes were in the way.

    That’s the only excuse needed.

When one elderly family asked a park ranger why they were taking the home they had lived in all of their lives – he answered – “because we can.”

In Columbia, South Carolina, The Richland County Council passed a Town and Country Land Use Vision Plan that will restrict forever the use of land by private property owners.

Kay McClanahan, a property owner and courageous fighter for her rights has organized her neighbors to fight the plan. For her trouble, she and her husband were bodily thrown out of a Council meeting, even after being recognized by the chairman to speak.

In Klamath Falls, Oregon, more than 100 farmers have been threatened with extinction after environmentalists got a court order to turn off their water to support a sucker fish.

Now, the folks who worked their private land and turned it into a thriving oasis, are dying of thirst – their farms turned into wasteland. As they suffer the loss of their American dream, power thirsty environmentalists move in to buy up their land and declare them willing sellers.

In Falmouth, Maine, Mary Alice Davis seeks to develop a few acres of her 187 acre estate with million dollar homes. But she has been blocked by a community elite who refuse to allow her to use her property for any purpose other than her home that already exists.

Again, she is told that her property is someone else’s view shed and their sunsets take precedent over her economic desires. Such restrictions – imposed on no one else in town – have basically rendered her land worthless because no one will buy it with such controls.

This is how Sustainable Development is affecting millions of Americans and their private property, their hopes and their dreams.

Remember, to rewild 50% of all the land in every state, as called for in the Wildlands Project, Americans have to lose a lot of private land. These are just a very few of the victims.

The rest of us are next.

But what about the courts, you may ask? We have laws in this country.

Keep in mind those who tell you that the United Nations has no control over our nation – that it is no threat to our sovereignty.

Then listen to these words from Supreme Court Justice Steven Breyer: “Through commerce, through globalization, through the spread of democratic institutions, through immigration to America, it’s becoming more and more one world of many different kinds of people. And how they’re going to live together across the world will be the challenge, and whether our Constitution and how it fits into the governing documents of other nations, I think, will be a challenge for the next generations.”

So much for the rule of American law. Sustainable Development is now official policy of the Supreme Court of the United States, too.

There has never been a single vote in Congress to create Sustainable Development. It’s all done through cleverly rearranged wording of existing programs and budgets, using UN treaties as guidelines. It’s all under the radar.

Former Commerce Secretary Ron Brown told a meeting of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development that his agency could implement at least 67% of the Sustainable Development agenda with no new legislation.

That’s how it’s done. And that’s why you’ve never heard a debate on such a radical transformation of our nation.

Sustainable Development is the greatest threat ever perpetrated against American liberty.

There can be no hope of living in a nation of limited government with Sustainable Development as official government policy. The two are diametrically opposed.

Americans would never concede their liberty to Swastikas or Hammers and Sickles. But tuck it in a green blanket for environmental protection and we’ll toss it all on the fire like a good old fashioned book burning.

This is about totalitarianism. It’s about controlling every aspect of our lives with decisions made by committees that will grow more powerful and more oppressive with each passing day and each new regulation proposed by newly empowered special interests groups.

There will be no satisfying their lust for power. There will be no part of our lives that is overlooked or uncontrolled

Our homes, our food, our babies, our liberty.

To defeat it we must understand that it is free men operating in free markets, untethered by government regulation that allows us to find solutions to hunger, decent housing, superior medical care, education; overcrowded highways and human happiness.

We must understand that it is only bad government that causes poverty, overpopulation and environmental damage. Totalitarianism, socialism, fascism and almost every other ism are the root of suffering on earth.

The logo of Sustainable Development, with it’s three concentric circles, should be viewed by all who love liberty as the new swastika of our era. There is no greater threat to our way of life.

    Sustainable Development is anti-science.

    It is anti-knowledge.

    It is anti-human.

    It is anti-reason.

It is the creed of the mindless savage who seeks brute force over reasonable thought.

And if we don’t learn of its evil now,

If we don’t heed the warning…

If we don’t rip it out of every level of government policy by its well-entrenched roots…

Then American life, indeed human existence, as we know it, will enter a new dark ages of pain and misery unlike any ever experienced by the community of man.

But it’s an agenda that ultimately doesn’t work. Because government control of individuals is a bankrupt scheme, proven a failure time and time again throughout history.

And that’s why it can be stopped.

The key to victory is to first understand your enemy. Know where he is headed and you can cut him off at every turn.

Let me give you one suggestion that you, as a political party, can do to stop Sustainable Development.

Don’t waste your time sitting in meetings, trying to compromise or discuss. Don’t allow yourselves to be manipulated by their consensus meetings.

Don’t bother with Congress to solve the situation.

Instead set your sites on the ballot boxes in your local communities.

There are approximately 3300 counties in this nation. Those counties are the closest level of government to each of you.

And by the Constitution, still the most powerful level of government – if you handle it right.

Begin now to elect county commissioners and city council members.

Make sure that they understand Sustainable Development. Then make sure they have the courage to stand up against the pressure from green groups.

If they say no to the federal grants that are the Trojan Horses for implementing and enforcing Sustainablism in the local communities, then we can stop it – community by community.

There will be little the Sustainablists can do short of sending in federal troops.

We are engaged in a battle for the American dream our founding fathers worked so hard to guarantee.

I feel they are watching us now.

They knew one truth that we must all relearn very quickly.

The only way to make sure that government doesn’t abuse its power is to not grant it in the first place.

    Sustainable Development must be stopped.

Arm yourselves first with that knowledge and then step by step – take your community – and then – take America back.

  • The Myth of Global Warming
  • March 23, 2009

    By Jim Hollingsworth

    INTRODUCTION

When Al Gore screams out in Senate testimony: “The Earth Has A Fever” he is not so much developing a scientific theory as he is seeking to use fear to drive a political agenda.  The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued four reports and in each one they have become more convinced that man is the chief cause of global warming, and that this warming is and will be seriously destructive to life as we know it.

We are told that “the science is settled” and that there is “a consensus” of scientists who believe we are headed for disaster if we do not stop burning fossil fuels.  Yet, there is a growing number of scientists who disagree.  Over 32,000 scientists have signed “The Petition Project” over 9,000 of them with PhDs proclaiming that man is not the chief cause of warming and that this warming will not be disastrous.

True science does not depend on a consensus, but on a careful analysis of evidence as found in nature.  One scientist noted that once they have a theory about something they work hard to prove themselves wrong.  History is replete with examples where scientists were just plain wrong about life matters, but continued research revealed the truth.

It is our contention that the present emphasis on man-caused (anthropogenic) global warming is a myth, in fact a carefully orchestrated hoax, not to further science, but to gain more control over the peoples of the world.  It is incumbent on each of us to search out the truth in this matter and act accordingly.

    THE EARTH IS WARMING

There seems to be little disagreement among scientists that the Earth is warming.  In fact, the earth has continued to warm since the end of the last Ice Age, about 10,000 to 20,000 years ago.  But that warming has not been an even warming with years of warming followed by some years of cooling, but each period leaving us just a little warmer than before.

We are told that the Earth has warmed about half a degree centigrade a century for the past 150 years.  The actual amount of warming as recorded is difficult to support given that a half-degree is about all the closer we could record temperature until very recently.  There are just 1,221 weather stations in America and few of these have been in the same position for the entire time.  Some have moved to new locations, and others have had cities grow up around them, which raises the average temperature.  Temperature readings can vary a couple of degrees depending on whether they are next to a building, on a slope, in a valley, or on a hilltop.

There appears to have been more warming in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere, but it needs to be kept in mind that there are few weather stations over the ocean, in Africa and South America, and even fewer in Antarctica.  It is very probable that the earth is warming, but by less than half a degree.

    CARBON DIOXIDE IS A POLLUTANT

The U.S. Supreme Court has declared that Carbon Dioxide is a pollutant.  That is not a scientific statement made by a scientific body, but a deliberative statement made by a political body. We often forget that Supreme Court Justices are human just like the rest of us, and though we expect them to know more about that law than we know we do not expect them to be experts in every field of endeavor.  The greatest evidence for this is in their own decisions (or opinions) which are often 7-2, 6-3, or 5-4.  One vote one way or the other would change the outcome of the decision.

Our atmosphere is approximately 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, .9% argon, and .04% carbon dioxide.  From that “trace” amount of carbon dioxide is built all the plants we see on the Earth.  Far from being a pollutant Carbon Dioxide is a natural substance required for all plant life.  All plants use Carbon Dioxide to grow and in the process they give off Oxygen. Animals use Oxygen and give off Carbon Dioxide.  This relationship is the miracle of life that enables both plants and animals to survive on Earth.

Growers know that increasing Carbon Dioxide increases plant growth, and for this reason Carbon Dioxide is sometimes used in greenhouses to increase plant growth.  It has also been demonstrated that an increased level of Carbon Dioxide enables a plant to survive and even thrive at warmer temperatures.

Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant.

CARBON DIOXIDE IS A GREENHOUSE GAS

The principle of a greenhouse is quite simple: Light enters through the glass and strikes the surface.  It is transformed into infrared rays which are longer and do not so easily pass back through the glass.  You experience the greenhouse effect when you leave your car shut up in the summer and notice how hot it is.

The greenhouse effect we note for the Earth is a little more complicated.  The infrared rays that are re-emitted from the Earth are actually trapped by the greenhouse gases which warms the gas and heats the Earth.  It is this effect which makes our Earth habitable, otherwise it would get very hot in the day time, and very cold at night; very very hot in summer, and very very cold in winter.

The main greenhouse gas is water vapor.  Where there is more moisture in the air the climate is more tempered.  Thus while daily temperatures may vary on the desert as much as fifty degrees they vary only a little in the tropics.

Water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas, and the next is Carbon Dioxide.  However, doubling the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere will not double the temperature rise.  There is a definite limit, and that limit is determined not by the amount of greenhouse gases in the air, but by the amount of solar radiation “reflected” from the Earth.  Once all the infrared rays have been “captured” by the greenhouse gases there can be no additional increase in temperature.

MAN IS THE CHIEF PRODUCER OF CARBON DIOXIDE

There appears to be a definite link between temperature and Carbon Dioxide.  Early analysis of ice cores indicated that as the Carbon Dioxide increased it caused a rise in temperature.  Subsequent analysis of the core data has revealed that the temperature rise came first followed about 800 years later by an increase in temperature.

There is no question that man produces Carbon Dioxide.  He produces Carbon Dioxide simply by breathing. But, he produces Carbon Dioxide by burning fossil fuels.  Every fossil fuel except Hydrogen produces Carbon Dioxide when it burns.  Some products produce more Carbon Dioxide than others, depending on their chemical composition.  Methane produces less Carbon Dioxide and wood produces more.  It is important to keep in mind that when wood burns it produces Carbon Dioxide, but when that same tree dies and rots it also produces Carbon Dioxide.

The ocean is a tremendous storage tank (carbon sink) for Carbon Dioxide.  But, as the oceans warm they can hold less Carbon Dioxide.  The warming ocean releases Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere.  An increase in atmospheric Carbon Dioxide will cause more Carbon Dioxide to be absorbed by the ocean.  But, which comes first is difficult to know.  It is much more likely that some natural factor such as changing solar radiation is actually warming the Earth, warming the oceans, and thus increasing the Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

    RISING TEMPERATURES ARE HARMFUL

We are told that there will be great species extinction because of rising temperatures.  We pick up a magazine and there is a polar bear standing on a small iceberg hoping to survive.  The truth is that most populations of polar bears are expanding and loss of sea ice is not a problem for them.  Most of the loss of sea ice area has been caused by changes in wind patterns.

Rising temperatures are actually beneficial to most plants and animals.  While humans can adapt from the very cold to the very warm, most people prefer a warmer climate, and many migrate to the south during the winter.  Plants actually increase their habitat when temperatures warm, moving higher in latitude (farther north) and higher in elevation (up mountains) when conditions warm, but they still maintain their present habitat.  Animals, of course, can easily move to cooler climates if they prefer.  Actually plants do well with warmer temperatures especially when the rise in temperature is accompanied by a rising Carbon Dioxide level.  Plants are affected more by rainfall than they are by temperature.

As far as people are concerned it is important to note that ten times more people die each year from cold than die from the heat.

    REMEDIATION VRS ADAPTATION

Most of the measures suggested to remedy higher levels of Carbon Dioxide (Remediation) will be deadly for world populations, especially in underdeveloped countries.  Because gasohol is produced from corn, efforts to substitute alcohol for gasoline is causing world-wide food shortages, and raising the price of most grains.  This has become so critical that some places have even had riots over food prices.

The United States was not a signer of the Kyoto Protocol (treaty).  But, those countries that did sign have greatly missed the mark.  The only way to reduce Carbon Dioxide production is to reduce burning of fossil fuels: gasoline, diesel, coal, natural gas, wood etc.  These are the main sources of energy, and though we might be able to cope by building more nuclear power plants, much of the developing world will be very dependent on these other resources over the next several decades.

And, even if we were able to reduce our carbon footprint, most of the rest of the world would not. China and India are two very large developing countries and have expressed no interest in cutting production of Carbon Dioxide.  Unless they participate in remediation what we do will have very little total effect.

Rather than causing world poverty by reducing Carbon Dioxide it will make a lot more sense to adapt to a changing temperature.

    CATASTROPHE AWAITS INACTION

Floods, drought, hurricanes, these, we are told, are all signs of coming catastrophe from global warming.  Yet, these are normal parts of any climate.  Climates change from warm to cold, from wet to dry.  Our Earth has weathered many serious changes in climate, from the Ice Ages to ages of tremendous plant growth (with high levels of Carbon Dioxide) yet the biosphere (plants and animals) has survived.  We shall continue to survive because we are very adaptable. And, as time goes on we will develop even more innovative ways for adapting to changing climate.

Some politicians know that they can gain more control over our lives through programs designed to remedy global warming.  We need to be vigilant to see this does not happen.  We can make better use of our energy; that just makes good sense and helps each one of us.  But, most of the suggested programs from wind farms to solar energy to hybrid automobiles will cost almost as much energy to produce as they actually save.

Common sense demonstrates that this great planet has survived many changes in climate and will do so again.  Government programs to help would be far better directed toward clean water the world over, as well as better sanitary conditions and food production.  Even control of such things as malaria would be a greater help to mankind than any effort to control global warming.  Besides, most of what you hear about global warming is a myth.

  • Only ten years late…. Mainstream Media Finally Catching Up to The DeWeese Report
  • March 17, 2009

    By Tom DeWeese

Again and again, The DeWeese Report has told you that the real agenda we face is a global one called Sustainable Development, as outlined in the UN’s soft-law document called Agenda 21. We’ve warned that this policy is designed to establish the United Nations as the main force for imposing global government, replacing national sovereignty, controlling the economy and the population, and that it is based on a strange mixture of Socialism and Fascism. Time and again, we’ve reported that global governance is a euphemism for global government. In addition, we’ve exposed the world-wide environmental movement as the driving force for such policies, working toward a wrenching transformation of the world economy, using the environment as the center (or the excuse) for such policy.

I think that about sums up what The DeWeese Report has been focused on for our entire existence. And for that entire time, forces in the federal government, in the UN, and NGO’s in the Environmental movement have universally denied it, saying we were fringe fanatics and silly conspiracy theorists.

Oh yeah? Well, let’s just share a few headlines appearing in the international press in the pass month.

First, headlines flashed across the nation after the Washington Times reported that Obama’s new Climate Czarina, Carol Browner was a member of a global Socialist organization called, “The Commission for a Sustainable World Society. Here’s how the group’s website states its purpose: “We are aware that essential tasks still lie ahead which we can master only through common action, since human survival increasingly depends upon joint efforts of people round the world… It is the people of the world who should exercise control by means of a more advanced democracy in all aspects of life: political, social and economic. Political democracy, for socialists, is the necessary framework and precondition for other rights and liberties.”

Can you read between those lines? “More Advanced Democracy?” “The necessary framework for other rights and liberties?” They mean the other rights and liberties they will give to us – if it fits their agenda – which is what?? SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT! Just like The DeWeese Report has been telling you.

Second, in a December 8, 2008 article entitled “And now for a World Government,” carried in the internationally-respected Financial Times (hardly a right-wing conspiracy rag) there is a quote by Jacques Attali, advisor to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, which states, “Global governance is just a euphemism for global government.” Imagine that – just like The DeWeese Report has warned. The article goes on to a recent report issued by the “Managing Global Insecurity” project, in which it calls for the creation of a UN-controlled military force- again, discussed in The DeWeese Report more than ten years ago.

Third, On February 2, 2009, The Times newspaper in London reported the British government’s “green advisor” Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission and was Tony Blair’s advisor on the environment, said that couples having more than two children are being irresponsible by creating an unbearable burden on the environment. According to the Times, “a report by the commission says that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.” Family planning? Condoms? Abortion? How? China has a good policy. They kill any babies over the government-set limit. And offending mothers are thrown in jail.

As The DeWeese Report has said on many occasions, Sustainable Development is about much more than environmental protection – but we’re just a bunch of nuts!

Extreme statement? NOT! H.R. 875 makes Americans serfs on their own land! Read on; this one bill could wipe the United States, as a free nation, from the face of the Earth! We urgently need your help to kill this extremely dangerous bill!

H.R. 875, the so-called Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 (FSMA) sounds innocent enough at first blush, with language purporting to “protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes.” In reality, the FSMA is an extensive and all-controlling abomination that must be stopped!

The FSMA mandates registration of every “food production facility,” which the bill defines as “any farm, ranch, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility, or confined animal-feeding operation;” and every “food establishment,” which the bill defines as “a slaughterhouse…, factory, warehouse, or facility owned or operated by a person located in any State that processes food or a facility that holds, stores, or transports food or food ingredients.”

H.R. 875 makes NAIS look tame. This bill will not just sweep up commercial food operations. The fine print of the FSMA will subject hobby gardeners, home canners, anyone with a few chickens, or anyone who “holds, stores, or transports food” – including mushrooms or wild berries gathered in the wild – to registration, extensive management, and inspection by a huge new bureaucracy, the Food Safety Administration (FSA)- even if the food items will only be consumed personally. And registration must be via “an electronic portal,” which will be costly and difficult for those without computers.

H.R. 875 exponentially advances the “Foodborne Disease Surveillance Systems” required of member states of the World Health Organization (WHO), which includes the United States. “Food establishments” will be required to adopt preventive process controls, including implementing recordkeeping and labeling of all food and food ingredients to facilitate their identification and traceability, including instructions for handling and preparation for consumption. This might sound rather reasonable… until you remember the definition of a “food establishment” above.

Immensely telling of how seriously this bill does not take “food safety,” though, is Section 204(2)(C), which promises the Administrator will identify the “5 most significant (food) contaminants”, and “not later than 3 years after a contaminant is so identified, the Administrator shall promulgate a performance standard…” Gee whiz, what’s the rush?

Perhaps the Administrator’s promulgation timetable has little to do with acting quickly and decisively to protect U.S. citizens (or even “all people in the United States” as required by the FSMA) and much, much more to do with the World Health Organization’s stated desire in its 2004 report entitled “FOODBORNE DISEASE MONITORING AND SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS” that “the objectives and strategies (of food borne disease surveillance systems) established by each country should be acceptable to all member countries (www.fao.org/docrep/meeting/006/j2381e.htm),” which doubtless would take time.

Perhaps it is because “studies linking pathogens in food to the disease in humans would help quantify the risk of food borne diseases.” In other words, no entity, not the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and not the WHO, can prove a significant problem exists in the United States.

The FSMA will not even quickly implement protections for Americans from contaminated foreign foodstuffs. The bill states, “(n)ot later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act” imported food products shall be certified safe “by the accredited foreign government (think CHINA!) or by an accredited certifying agent…” Again, what’s the rush?

Maddeningly, the FSMA expects Congress to again approve a far-reaching bill without knowing the details. In this case, Congress will find out much later:

    • what federal resources would be dedicated to foodborne illness and food safety research;
    • what transfer of agencies, personnel, assets, obligations, and consolidation, reorganization, or streamlining of agencies will be involved; and
    • the details of regulations the new Food Czar (Administrator of the FSA) will promulgate after enactment of the Act.

Among the statutory foundations the FSMA claims for guidance and authority is the National Animal Identification System, which HAS NEVER BEEN ENACTED INTO LAW BY CONGRESS!

But beyond the mandated violations of our civil liberties in the FSMA – registration, traceability, inspections, seizures, etc. (all without court orders or search warrants), – the truly chilling language lays out civil and criminal penalties of up to $1 million per day, per infraction, and imprisonment of five or ten years, or both, depending how serious the violation(s).

Additionally, “(a)n order assessing a civil penalty against a person… shall be a final order unless the person– (A) not later than 30 days after the effective date of the order, files a petition for judicial review of the order in the United States court of appeals… (and) (t)he findings of the Administrator relating to the order shall be set aside only if found to be unsupported by substantial evidence on the record as a whole. The FSMA is so over-the-top in its overreach that the bill’s language states, “(t)he validity and appropriateness of the order of the Administrator assessing the civil penalty shall not be subject to judicial review.”

And if you’re by now thinking this is about as outrageous as this bill can be, you’d be very wrong. Section 406 clearly states, “(i)n any action to enforce the requirements of the food safety law, the connection with interstate commerce required for jurisdiction SHALL BE PRESUMED TO EXIST.”

Now, for those who noticed, and questioned, why “foodborne” is spelled as if we reside “on the Continent,” and why the United States government is attempting to implement a “solution” wanting for a “problem” – you guessed it – “Foodborne Disease Monitoring and Surveillance Systems” are a priority with the World Health Organization, to which our national government has committed US through its membership.

The 53rd World Health Assembly (a branch of the WHO) in the year 2000 adopted a resolution to recognize food safety as an essential public health function and called for the development of a Global Strategy for reduction of the burden of food borne diseases. The resolution (WHA 53.15) encouraged member states “to implement and keep national, and when appropriate, regional mechanisms for food borne diseases surveillance.” All this, despite the WHO admission in a 2004 report (www.fao.org/docrep/meeting/006/j2381e.htm) that “(t)he true dimension of the burden of food borne diseases is still unknown…”

The FSMA is a “government solution” in seek of a problem! In the year 1900 at least some cases in two of the ten leading causes of death might have been food related (diarrhea/enteritis, liver disease). But the twin leading causes were pneumonia, followed closely by tuberculosis.

In 2002, WHO listed the leading cause of death in the U.S. (www.who.int/whosis/mort/profiles/mort_amro_usa_
    unitedstatesofamerica.pdf)
as ischaemic heart disease, killing ~ 514,000 people. The second greatest cause was cerebrovascular disease (stroke), killing ~ 163,000. None of the top ten causes bore any relation to foodborne illness.

In apparent support of all this brazen, strong-arm command and control attempt, the CDC reports its estimate that every year in the United States sees approximately 76 million cases of foodborne illness (www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/meat/safe/foodborne.html), with 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths (which equates to one death out of every 15,200 who become ill). Admittedly those 5,000 deaths are significant, and devastating to all those involved, but this figure must be put in perspective. We must consider the larger picture long before we even consider such draconian measures as those mandated by the FSMA.

Perhaps too little is known of reports that “iatrogenic events” – medical errors – kill almost 800,000 in the U.S. each year (www.whale.to/a/null9.html#Underreporting_of_Iatrogenic_Events_). That’s the equivalent of six jumbo jets falling out the sky each and every day. Those who track these events believe as few as 5% and no more than 20% of these deaths are ever reported.

Clearly deaths resulting from foodborne disease are exponentially lower than these other major causes, which begs an obvious question: If Congress is so very concerned about our health, why haven’t they felt inclined to tackle the much more significant incidence of iatrogenic deaths in this nation? Hmmm?

One need only consider the “Healthy People 2010″ goals (www.healthypeople.gov/About/goals.htm) to understand the true (A)genda behind this initiative.

    ACTION TO TAKE

The FSMA is an extremely dangerous bill. We recommend a multi-prong attack, as the more salvos we throw at the FSMA the better chance we have of killing this abomination.

  • The World Wildlife Fund's Polar Bear Lies
  • March 6, 2009

    By Tom DeWeese

No doubt you’ve seen the ads. The music is dramatic. The scene is tragic. The message emotional. Polar Bears, holding on for dear life to bits of ice, their artic habitat destroyed by Global Warming. And the narration tells you of the tragic fate of the bears, all because of man and his selfish destruction of the earth. And of course, the ad ends with a plea for funds to help the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) protect the bears and stop Global Warming. Cute, fuzzy animals always do the trick.

Trouble is, it’s all a lie. Not one word of the ad is true. Polar Bears are not endangered. There is no indication of any reduction of their populations. In fact, they are actually being hunted by locals who have to live with them, in an effort to keep their populations down. Of 13 Polar Bear populations, 11 are thriving and growing.

The real agenda behind WWF’s Polar Bear campaign is to stop drilling of American oil and to shackle the United States with the UN’s Kyoto Climate Change Treaty. Again, the policy is called Sustainable Development.

Using the Polar Bear, which WWF and the Sierra Club managed to get listed on the Endangered Species (ESA) list last year, the greens can grab control of the US economy, controlling energy production.

Last year, in a Congressional hearing on the listing of the Polar Bears, Congressman Don Young of Alaska said testimony by Bush Administration officials “clearly indicated the overriding goal was to use the ESA as a tool to stop energy production in any and all states.” Under questioning, former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Director Dale Hall confirmed that if a coal-fired power plant in Arizona were seeking a federal permit, with the Polar Bear listed as protected by the ESA, the Fish and Wildlife Service would have to consult on the permit. In other words, a power plant located thousands of miles away from Polar Bear habitat would be considered a danger – because of global warming. How could any industry be possible? And that’s just the way WWF wants it.

The truth is now rapidly coming out. There is no man-made global warming – it’s a lie. There is no threat to Polar Bears – -it’s a lie. Drilling American oil is not a danger to the environment – it’s a lie. And yet, WWF continues to spread the lies and fan the fear.

It is time we fight back against these zealots who put anything else on earth ahead of man. Taking donations based on lies is fraud and WWF should be called on it. We should call on the federal government to take away WWF’s non-profit status. We should complain to any television network that runs their lies. We should demand that such false advertising be pulled from the airways.

The World Wildlife Fund is dangerous to our way of life – to our very civilization. We should no longer just treat them like some nice folks with a different point of view. Political debate is one thing, outright fraud is criminal.

  • Demand Senate Keep E-Verify Out of Appropriations Bill!

It’s fast, it’s easy, and most of all, it’s extremely effective in KILLING LEFTIST POLICIES!

Once again the forces of Big Brother are trying to jam the E-Verify System through Congress – this time through the Omnibus Appropriations Bill.

The vote make be taken as early as Friday!

It must be stopped at all costs.

Supporters of E-Verify tell you this is the best way to stop illegals from getting jobs. They tell you it is efficient and accurate. Somehow they have deluded themselves into thinking E-Verify is just a proud, patriotic American program.

    These are all lies.

E-Verify should be renamed the “Get Permission to Work from the Feds.” It uses the Social Security number as your only means to obtain a job. It means that every baby born here will have to basically be stamped, numbered and registered to live in our society.

Of course many of these things are already in place. But when did it become patriotic to support Big Brother surveillance programs? When did such polices become Conservative? In my 40 years of fighting for freedom not once did I ever hear that total surveillance was freedom.

It’s tyranny. And we can put a stop to it right now!

Here’s proof that E-Verify is part of the growing national surveillance society. The Department of Homeland Security now wants to move the Social Security Administration under its wing. Social Security is supposed to be about money for your old age – not national security. What other purpose can there be for this action than to use the Social Security number as a national identity code?

Proponents of E-Verify – like NumbersUSA tell us how efficient E-Verify is.

Do you want an efficient Big Brother?

The truth is E-Verify is another part of the REAL ID international identity card scam. First, you will have to ask the federal government for the right to work by using E-Verify to get a job, then you carry REAL ID as your key to society – again provided by the federal government. This is birth to death surveillance – if we let it happen.

E-Verify will NOT protect you or your job from illegal aliens.

    That is a lie.

Instead, E-Verify will only force illegals to work in an underground economy, under the table, paid in cash. It will also make a Social Security Number more valuable than cocaine. How many reports have you heard about missing laptop computers filled with personal records, including Social Security numbers? Those stolen records will become extremely valuable once they are required to hold a job.

Illegal workers are a huge business for criminal cartels. They have the means to steal and to sell Social Security numbers – maybe your number. And you won’t know it until YOU need to use it for a job. Suddenly, you will be rejected. Then you will have to travel to an overworked, over crowded Social Security Office to try to find out why you were rejected. You may find that someone else is already working under your Social Security Number. It is now theirs and you have to prove who you are.

Is this how we do things in a free society?

Don’t submit to the scare tactics that tell you E-Verify will protect American jobs.

We have an illegal alien problem in this nation for one reason – the federal government refuses to protect the border. Instead of doing it’s job, now it wants to make business the bad guy – and now make business the first line of defense against the illegals.

As the American Policy Center has often warned, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is dragging its feet, delaying construction of the Congressionally-mandated border fence. DHS is fighting efforts in local communities to allow police to arrest illegals. There is little effort to tighten visa security, or allow law enforcement to track down and deport those who stay here past their allotted time. Those illegals caught committing crimes are still allowed to leave, only to easily and surreptitiously return at their will. The border is a sieve. There is no border control – period.

And E-Verify isn’t going to fix that. But it will make life more difficult for you.

Employers that fire employees who are unable to resolve “no-matches” may face the additional at risk of being charged with unlawful discrimination or wrongful termination. Being required to rectify all no-matches would have a particularly devastating impact on small businesses, many of which may not have dedicated human resources staff to deal with no-match letters. An economic analysis commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found that the costs of the rule would be at least $1 billion a year.

This is a bad time to enact policies that will cause massive layoffs in industries that already are suffering due to the economic downturn. This is too high a price to pay in the best of times, and in the worst economic crisis in 75 years, it’s outrageous and unacceptable!

Remember, E-Verify is the brainchild of DHS – the same DHS actively participating in various SPP working groups to “harmonize” and “integrate” the laws and regulations of the United States, Canada, and Mexico to enable the free flow of goods and services (labor) throughout the North American continent. Don’t believe for one second this new administration, led by a President seeking to make the U.S. one with the world, is now opposed to the ongoing creation of the North American Union!

We’ve given you examples over, and over again, about the federal government’s inability to secure their databases, and claims that our laws do not require federal protection of American citizens’ personal data. You’ve read over, and over again, of the significant flaws in the E-Verify system, and the international biometric identification system that E-Verify will help impose on us all.

We must stop it! Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has put a block on the E-Verify amendment to the Appropriations bill. We need to make sure he keeps it there.

The E-Verify program is slated to expire on Friday, March 6, and we need to make sure the Senate does not revive this program that will force you to get your government’s permission to work in your own country!

    ACTION TO TAKE

Contact the following Today – the vote may be as early as Friday:

    Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
    Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell
    Assistant Majority Leader Richard Durbin
    Assistant Minority Leader Jon Kyl
    Your Senators

Call (202) 224-3121 and the Capitol Switchboard will direct your call to any Senate office you request.

    Tell these Senators:

    • Any E-Verify provisions must not be added to the Omnibus Appropriations Bill, and any other bill.
    • E-Verify has nothing to do with stopping illegal invaders.
    • You will not submit to seeking the federal government’s permission to work in our own nation!

Above all, tell your friends (who may believe E-Verify is the answer to illegal immigration) the truth about this Big Brother legislation.
