The American Policy Center (APC) is a 501c4 political action foundation founded in 1984 by Tom DeWeese. The American Policy Center is supported by individual donations from approximately 100,000 citizens from across the nation. APC’s mission since its founding has been to protect and defend the ideals of limited government intrusion in our lives, as envisioned by our nation’s founders. While the concept of freedom, and its protection, involves nearly an endless list of issues, APC believes freedom activists must employ a laser focus on specific key issues to be effective. For APC that issue has become the fight to protect and preserve private property rights.
As Founding Father John Adams said, “The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.” That is exactly what we are seeing happen across the United States as private property is being taken by unlawful use of eminent domain and other policies, in the name of climate change and environmental protection. APC’s mission is to protect private property from any policies that threaten its existence. As rancher and activist Wayne Hage said several years ago, “If you don’t have the right to own and control private property, then you are property.”
The American Policy Center is one of the original organizations to expose and fight to stop the enforcement of the United Nation’s Agenda 21, and its policy of Sustainable Development. Today that fight carries on against Agenda 2030, The Green New Deal, and the Great Rest, all part of the same international globalist grab for power which is now being implemented on the local levels of our government. When private property rights are protected sustainable development policies cannot be enforced. Local and state elected representative governments have much more power to stop such international and federal power grabs than they realize. APC works to teach these details to local representatives. In addition, APC is teaching local activists around the country to build a permanent infrastructure from which to be instantly ready to take action. We call it building a FreedomPod in our own community.
APC’s Impact
APC’s website, www.americanpolicy.org, features one of the most detailed archives of articles on property rights protection, Agenda 21, and many more related issues, and is visited by readers from almost every nation in the world. Today, as a result of APC’s educational programs, more people around the world are becoming aware of the danger of the global agenda, which now includes the Green New Deal and the Great Reset. The opposition is growing.
APC has helped in winning several recent property rights battles including:

- Stopping three National Heritage Area land-grabs in Virginia, Colorado, and Louisiana.
- Local activists, educated by APC, were able to lead the fight in a small town in Alabama called Bayou-La Batre. The city council voted 5–0 to stop an Agenda 21 inspired Eco-tourism scheme that would have destroyed property rights and local industry.
- A team of county commissioners, using APC materials, were elected in Carroll County, Maryland by opposing Agenda 21 policy.
- The National Republican Party used APC materials to prepare and include an anti-Agenda 21 plank in its platform.
- The State of Alabama used APC materials to become the first state in the nation to pass legislation to ban Agenda 21.
- APC is now working with both landlord’s, farmers and cattleman’s associations across the nation to stop the destruction of these vital industries that have become victims of sustainable policy.
- Activists in Denmark have produced several anti-Agenda 21 videos featuring APC materials, including distributing Tom DeWeese’s book, Sustainable to Denmark’s Prime Minister and to every mayor in Denmark.
- A senator in Australia has used APC materials to build opposition in that country.
- In Brazil, APC materials have been translated to Portuguese and widely distributed to help build a large opposition in that country.

Tom DeWeese
President
Tom DeWeese is one of the nation’s leading advocates of individual liberty, free enterprise, private property rights, personal privacy, back-to-basics education and American sovereignty and independence.
A native of Ohio, he’s been a candidate for the Ohio Legislature, served as editor of two newspapers, and has owned several businesses since the age of 23. In 1989 Tom led the only privately-funded election-observation team to the Panamanian elections in which voter fraud on a massive scale determined the outcome in favor of dictator Manuel Noriega. In 2006 Tom was invited to Cambridge University to debate the issue of the United Nations before the Cambridge Union, a 200 year old debating society.
Tom DeWeese has traveled to nearly every state speaking out on the threat of UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development Policy. To fight these policies, he coined the term Freedom Pods and now helps to recruit and train local activists to effectively organize in their own communities. He has testified before local and state elected officials, while appearing on countless national and local radio and television programs. He has written three books on the subject including the best-selling book Sustainable: The WAR on Free Enterprise, Private Property and Individuals, ERASE, a fictionalized political thriller, and his first book, titled Now Tell Me I was Wrong, which details a wide variety of related issues including property rights, radical environmentalism, public education and personal privacy issues. In addition, DeWeese has written hundreds of articles that have been published in national and local publications reaching millions of readers.
Today he serves as Founder and President of the American Policy Center and its sister organization, the American Policy Foundation (501c3). For 50 years Tom DeWeese has been a businessman, grassroots activist, writer and publisher. As such, he has always advocated a firm belief in man’s need to keep moving forward while protecting our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights.
Kathleen Marquardt
Vice President
Kathleen Marquardt has been an advocate for property rights and freedom for decades. While not intending to be an activist, she has become a leader and an avid supporter of constitutional rights, promoter of civility, sound science, and reason. She is dedicated to exposing the fallacies of the radical environmental and animal rights movements. She has been featured in national publications including Fortune, People, the Washington Post, and Field and Stream, as well as television news programs such as Hard Copy, The McLaughlin Group, Geraldo, and many others.
Today, she serves as Vice President of American Policy Center. Kathleen now writes and speaks on Agenda21/2030, and its threat to our culture and our system of representative government.
