Protection of Private Property Rights

Testimony by Tom DeWeese, American Policy Center April 9th, 2015 First, let me address the 1,000 pound Gorilla in the room –  the claim that Agenda 21 is just a right wing conspiracy theory. The Southern Poverty Law Centers says, “Agenda 21 is not a treaty. It has no force of law, no enforcement mechanisms, no penalties, and no significant funding. It is not even a top-down recommendation, seeking instead to encourage communities around the world to come up with their own solutions to overpopulation, pollution, poverty and resource depletion. It is a feel good guide that cannot force anyone, anywhere to do anything at all.” And that is exactly what planners, non-governmental organizations and federal officials tell you and city councilmen and county commissioners every day. The fact is, up until the mid 2000s, no one was saying Agenda 21 was a Rightwing fringe fantasy. In 1992, over 50,000 ...

Never Underestimate the Power of a Pebble in Your Shoe

A plan to Stop Agenda 21 Thousands of grassroots activists across the nation have taken up the fight against Agenda 21 and its policy of Sustainable Development. Where once there were only a very few of us speaking out against this “comprehensive blueprint” for the complete transition of American society, now hundreds speak in meetings and testify in legislative hearings. We know it is an assault on property rights, energy use, building development, even education and health care. The policy’s impact is massive and, to many, overwhelming. Yet, our voice of opposition continues to be ignored. We get the roll of the eyes, the snide remarks, the accusations of conspiracy theorists and fringe fanatics. They smirk. They laugh and they move forward with their plans conceived in the back rooms out of sight of a sleeping public. How can we stop it? Where do we start?  How do we overcome ...

Attack of the NGOs

Who are these None governmental Organizations (NGOs) shock troops and how do they operate? It’s a vast matrix composed of both the private NGO groups and representatives of the UN and representatives of a large number of US federal agencies – all working together behind the scenes, quietly making policy for the rest of us. And when I attempt to expose them, they vehemently deny there is any collusion – “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” Sorry, the truth is – this is how it works. No vote. No public input. Just the enforcement of an agenda through the willing participation of private groups and government officials who forgot their purpose was to represent, not dictate to us. The NGOs are the storm troopers necessary to make it all happen. The article below was first published in 2008, has been included in the American Policy Center’s “Stop ...

Panic in “Sustainable City”

The attacks came fast and furious, from March through June. A coordinated attack to vilify, ostracize and neutralize efforts by local citizen activists who are standing in opposition to Agenda 21 and its policy called Sustainable Development. The terms “conspiracy theory,” “extremists,” “fear mongers,” and “far right,” are all over these obvious attempts to smear any opposition to the agenda of the Sustainablist planners that now swarm over nearly every community in America. It started with the American Planning Association (APA) delivering yet another report in a continuing effort to understand the fierce opposition to its “innocent,” “locally- driven” programs. Apparently it is a mystery to the APA why there would be  opposition to its plans to reorganize entire communities which sometimes result in turning people’s lives upside down.  The APA has done a series of studies over the past few years in an attempt to find a way to ...

Stopping Agenda 21: Equipping Citizens to Fight Back

Our battle to expose and stop Agenda 21 has grown more intense over the past few months. More counties and states across the nation are taking action against the dictates of self-proclaimed stakeholder groups to reject sustainablist policies. From Virginia to California, citizens are demanding protection of their property rights and more state legislatures are addressing their demands. However, new attacks have been made against us over the past two months from the American Planning Association, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and Treehugger.com. Three major national news publications--News Week, Esquire, and Fortune--have also attacked our efforts to expose local sustainable development policies and local activist’s efforts to stop it. These attacks indicate that we are making an impact in this fight to stop government sprawl. More state legislatures are passing anti-Agenda 21 legislation and more local communities are standing up to outside non-governmental organizations (NGOs) ...

How Global Policy Becomes Local

I first issued the following article in 2005. Since that time, planning groups like the American Planning Association and other Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are involved in implementing sustainable development across the nation, vigorously deny that their programs have anything to do with the United Nations or Agenda 21. And they have gone on the attack through a variety of hit pieces and articles in major news magazines to label those of us fighting Agenda 21 as just kooky conspiracy theorists. Their main argument is that Agenda 21 is a “soft law” policy that has no enforcement capability. “It’s just voluntary,” they insist over and over again. “There are no blue helmeted troops at city hall,” they sarcastically proclaim. But who needs UN troops when they have the NGO shock troops? The following article clearly shows how they target and enlist local mayors to “voluntarily” thrust their agenda on the ...

Stop Agenda 21 Webinar

Major Announcement: Tom DeWeese to host a series of FREE Webinars to teach activists how to stop Agenda 21! Why do you need to attend this online event? Have you seen the coordinated attacks against us? There have been four major attacks in the last four weeks: 1st. The American Planning Association issued its report entitled: The Actions of Discontent. 2nd. The Southern Poverty Law Center's "in depth" report was titled: “Agenda 21, the UN, Sustainability and Right-wing Conspiracy Theory.” 3rd. Natural Resources Defense Council and Tree Hugger.com called me “the king of conspiracy theories.” 4th. Last week, Newsweek magazine published “The Plots to Destroy America” – based entirely from the SPLC report. All of these reports are directed at you and me and our fight against Agenda 21. “Conspiracy Theory.”  “Fringe Nuts!”  "Extremists!" These attacks indicate that they are terrified of us. The SPLC report said that we are "starting to have ...

The Principles of Freedom VS Agenda 21

In February, 2014, I was invited to present the keynote address to the annual Clouds Over America conference in Oklahoma City, OK. Part of the program that evening was the presentation of awards to members of the Oklahoma state legislature who had distinguished themselves as defenders of freedom during the legislative session. I then had the privilege of speaking to this esteemed audience. Though some of this material has been published in a recent issue of the DeWeese Report, many in that audience asked for copies of this presentation. So I decided to reprint it here in its entirety. TAD  “Freedom.” We use that word a lot. Do we all really know what that word means? It’s used in so many different ways. Do we understand how it is attained? Most importantly, do we understand how it is used by some to actually take freedom away? Simply put, freedom is ...

Victories Against Agenda 21

The battle against Agenda 21 is really heating up across the country as property rights activists are using the new American Policy Center tactics that I’ve been supplying. As a result, reports are coming in from activists and elected officials across the nation of growing battles and even some outright victories in the fight against Agenda 21. Finally we are able to stand up against self appointed stakeholder groups seeking to transform our nation into their private agendas, contrary to the Constitution. Here are just a few of the most recent reports I’ve received:  1. The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed the Oklahoma Community Protection Act (HB 2807). The bill is designed to nullify Agenda 21 and protect private property rights. I was privileged to help provide some strong property rights language and definitions to make the bill more effective. The bill is now in the State Senate. It has ...

Memo to the Movement

The “Agenda for the 21st Century” is the root of your fight Keep your eye on the ball!  You and I have been fighting it for years. We’ve made progress, but not enough. That lack of progress is enough to discourage many activists to leave our fight and try to fight something else – perhaps an easier victory. But, as an associate of mine used to say, “Saving America is not a 9:00 to 5:00 job.” It’s never easy. But this fight MUST be won. Agenda 21 is at the root of nearly every other issue we fight. Leave the Agenda 21 fight now and America’s precious Republic will never be restored. We must renew this fight with a spirit and energy like never before. Our battle cry must be to crush Agenda 21 in 2014. I know it’s a hard issue to understand, and even harder to explain to ...

New Tactics to Fight Agenda 21

Over the past few years, as we’ve educated people on Agenda 21 and its UN origins, the natural reaction by concerned citizens and property rights activists has been to rush into city hall and accuse their elected representatives of enforcing international policies on the town. This has, of course, been met with skepticism and ridicule on the part of some of the officials (and encouraged by the NGO stakeholders and planning organizations that stand in the shadows). Today, the promoters of Agenda 21, including ICLEI and the American Planning Association (APA), have worked overtime to paint our movement as crazed conspiracy theorists wearing tin foil hats and hearing voices. If we are to gain ground and ultimately defeat the Agenda 21 monster that is systematically ripping apart our Republic, then it’s time for our movement to learn from our mistakes and become more sophisticated in our approach. In short, it’s ...

Testimony by Tom DeWeese

Testimony By Tom DeWeese Coordination Hearing Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association Rhinelander, Wisconsin October 5, 2013 My task today is to connect some dots from the policies you are facing to their origins and their intended purposes. And I will show you the legislative process that has dropped them at your door. I will also give you specific details about how you are being affected by related policies, and, most importantly, I’ll report to you some very successful efforts to combat these policies. Specifically, I’m going to talk to you about Agenda 21. Many of us who have been working for more than 20 years to sound the alarm about Agenda 21 have suffered through charges of spreading conspiracy theories. Proponents loudly deny that their policies have any connection to what they call an  innocuous 20 year old UN document. It is true - Agenda 21 is NOT a treaty ...

Where did you first hear about Agenda 21?

A great many Americans first read about it in my monthly newsletter - The DeWeese Report If you're not reading it - you're missing a lot. Please take a moment to watch this video! Many Americans around the country have now heard of Agenda 21 and its threat to our way of life.  And now there are thousands of activists who are working to block Agenda21/Sustainable Development policies. But there was a time, for almost 20 years, that one of the only places you could learn about Agenda 21 was on the pages of my newsletter, The DeWeese Report. For eighteen years The DeWeese Report has been on the cutting edge of our drastically changing society. I’ve reported on the threat of international policy like Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. I was one of the very first to see through the lies about Global Warming and report that it was a fraud. In the ...

Conservation Easements and the Urge to Rule

Conservation easements. The Green Mafia tells us this is the only way to save the family farm. Without its tax credits and restrictions on development rights, America will be paved over and Astroturf will replace sod. We’re in crisis, they tell us. However, as H.L Mencken once warned, “A plan to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.” Conservation and environmental groups openly advocate the conservation easements as the answer to saving farm land, as do state departments of agriculture, farm bureaus, and the federal government. A full court press is on to lock in millions of acres of private property under the blazing headline “Save the Family Farm.” There’s no question that the family farm is under assault. Taxes, international trade agreements, inflation, and government regulations are eating away at the ability to keep the farm operating. I’ve never met a farmer who ...

Here it is… The Smoking Gun

The direct link between Agenda 21 and local planners When the fight started against Agenda 21, those of us working to expose it were largely ignored by the main stream media and even the established Conservative movement and its media. Too far out there, they said, to be taken seriously. Then, as more and more Americans began to experience the dire effects of Sustainable Development in their daily lives, suddenly our message began to take hold. Today, thousands of Americans have taken up the fight. And anti-Agenda 21 activists are storming planning meetings, demanding answers. State legislatures and even some county and city governments are passing legislation against it. It seems the Agenda 21 fight is everywhere. So, now, proponents of the Sustainable Development policy are alarmed and working feverishly to counter our claims that such controls over local development and energy policy have their roots in international policy. In ...

Sustainable Development and the Control of Energy (The growing battle over Smart Meters)

Sustainable Development is code for a policy designed to transform human society, essentially eliminating individual life decisions and replacing them with top – down, one-size-fits-all government control. In steady fashion, the agenda for this new policy, designed at the international level, is put into place piece by piece with a new government council here, and new regulation there, each designed to appear as a “local” development program. Like the proverbial frog in the slowly boiling pot, many Americans fail to notice the rise in government heat. The main course of action to impose the new agenda is through the pretense of environmental protection; “Sorry about your rights, but if we don’t save the planet, then we will all perish!” And so with the devastation of a thousand pin pricks, America and its form or government is being changed through the creation of non-elected boards, councils and regional governments, designed to ...

Connecting the Dots: From the United Nations to Your State Government

Proponents of Sustainable Development constantly tell us that their plans are just local. And they deride those who accuse them of imposing an international agenda. Kooks. Fringe Fanatics. Conspiracy Theorists. These are just some of the labels they pin on those fighting to expose Agenda 21. Moreover, they sarcastically ask, “how can an obscure twenty year old document be a threat to local policy? Tsk Tsk.” Well, let’s take just one example and follow it through the process. Let’s get acquainted with the Earth Charter. If Agenda 21 is the blue print – the Earth Charter is the manifesto. Below is a report, provided, in part, by Christopher Woodwardon detailing the Earth Charter, its history and its purpose. He writes... “...The Earth Charter is an international declaration, which calls for “building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society for the 21st century.” It is a soft law document as opposed ...

Sustainability Marxism

We’ve been saying it for years – sustainable development is really just a disguised Marxism, with its top down control of economic decisions, violation of private property rights and emphasis on Social Justice, a term, incidentally, coined by non- other than Karl Marx (so what was your first clue?). Well, as Agenda 21 has been enforced in more and more policy, the perpetrators have grown more and more bold in openly revealing the truth – it really is a not-so disguised Marxism after all. But, of course, I’m just the lunatic fringe. So, let them tell you in their own words. “We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects.” Dave Foreman (Co-founder of Earth First) “If we don’t overthrown capitalism, we don’t have a chance of saving the world ecologically. I think it is possible to have an ecology sound society under socialism. I ...
