Animal Rights Nuts Call for End to “Killer” Highways

They call themselves the Alliance for a Paving Moratorium and they are horrified by the number of little critters that are flattened into road kill each year (though I’m told it’s a delicacy in some states). Their answer to the situation – stop building highways across America.

Of course these bleeding hearts showed no concern for the number of people who are killed each year when their cars are crushed by a herd of deer. That hazard is growing worse as animal rights activitists succeed in banning deer hunting.

But before you laugh off such stupid ideas, be reminded that similar plans to destroy roads and eliminate cars have been introduced as official White House environmental policy as contained in the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) report introduced at the United Nation’s Habitat II conference this past June (see The DeWeese Report, Vol. 2, Issue 6). It is common practice for the Greens to use wackos like the above mentioned Alliance to float ridiculous ideas that somehow become policy.
