The High, the low, and the middle class

I am sitting on my deck while writing this blog and hoping a groundhog or two tries to interfere again in my (wish it were) idyllic life so I can get in a little target practice without going to the range. Oops, just missed him.

Now that we have become so politically correct that our government and MSM think Southern Poverty Law Center is on par with Thomas Paine, all the ‘lesser’ scumbag ideas are being brought out on the assumption that they will be accepted and enacted into laws. Along with this comes all of the Social Justice excrement lauded as highly moral ideals.

See for yourself.

Superficial Tolerance Isn’t Helpful

“But at the same time, there’s an underlying sentiment to the COEXIST bumper sticker that I find distasteful, and even harmful. It’s the idea that religious convictions aren’t really worth discussing, arguing about, or defending.

“Really, it’s a symptom of a more general, superficial tolerance that pervades America today—one rooted in a relativistic anti-dogmatism that no longer believes that “ideas have consequences”; that they do, and should, play a significant role in shaping worldviews, lives, and actions. (Of course, as many of you know, this form of superficial tolerance is rarely applied consistently.)”

This just came in as and it is a real eye-opener for those who have been blind enough to think we wear tin-foil hats. They are probably doing this to shut down my math tutoring work. If you don’t see anything wrong with this, you need to join the tree huggers who are literally bawling their hearts out over harvested trees.

Public College Drops Math Requirement, May Replace It With Diversity

A public university in Michigan has announced it’s deleting a requirement that all students complete at least one math course before graduating. At the same time, the school is seriously considering a new requirement that would compel students to complete four courses that promote diversity.

The head of the United Nations Human Rights Council just demanded that political leaders in America enact, “…robust gun regulation” – code for U.S. citizens to give up their guns.

“Apparently, Al-Hussein neglected to learn of the facts of human history that show the greatest atrocities through time have been perpetrated by tyrannical governments slaughtering unarmed citizens.  Or, perhaps he in fact knows that history all too well.”

You have to love the chutzpah of these guys. Government wants to tax anything and everything. Even though unincorporated areas do not have the infrastructure of the incorporated areas, I guess some politicians think that the unincorporated citizens should have to pay for what they are not getting. Look out America, a new idea has arisen and it will be in your area soon, even if it doesn’t cut the mustard in Washington.

THURSTON COUNTY DISCOVERS NEW CASH COW IN THE “CRAP” TAX

Thurston County has become aware that unincorporated residents use septic systems that have not been taxed as sewer systems have been and some residents also use private water wells that have not been taxed.  The county’s solution is to turn septic systems into de-facto utilities that can be taxedThus, Thurston County has discovered a fertile cash cow in the “crap” tax.

Now this is an enjoyable read. I read his 1970 book, Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers, and loved how he poked fun of the ‘intellectuals.’ He’s still at it and in fine form.

Beware the Rise of the Pseudo-Intellectual: Tom Wolfe’s Boston University Commencement Address

“I say that the middle class around the world … is the highest form of evolution. The bourgeoisie! — the human beast doesn’t get any better! The worldwide bourgeoisie makes what passes today for aristocrats — people consumed by juvenility who hang loose upon society — look like shiftless children.

“We must be careful to make a distinction between the intellectual and the person of intellectual achievement. The two are very, very different animals. There are people of intellectual achievement who increase the sum of human knowledge, the powers of human insight, and analysis. And then there are the intellectuals. An intellectual is a person knowledgeable in one field who speaks out only in others.”

You can bet your sweet bippies that the business leaders who have signed onto this are members of the Public/Private Partnership brigade. No ethical businessman would do a deal with the devil who wants to control the businesses it don’t shut down. IMHO
